Overview

The MDES Team, is looking for a Lead Software Development Engineer to help build next-generation, microservices-based enterprise applications using the Java stack and modern, best-of-breed user interfaces. This team plays a key role in driving the company's innovation strategy by integrating AI-driven capabilities into scalable, high-performance systems.
The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong passion for software engineering and whants to jump into AI innovation, leads software engineering projects, and supervises the development and delivery of enhanced software solutions. Evaluate alternative technical solutions to address evolving business needs and ensure that the team's daily activities comply with service level agreements (SLAs).

Role

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will:
• Develop solutions with innovation, cost-effectiveness, high quality, and quick time to market. Manage the team's daily system development and maintenance activities to meet SLAs.
• Collaborate with business and technical partners to identify opportunities, outline potential value, and assess risks, benefits, and constraints.
• Develop strategic technical plans and create architecture proposals based on identified solution gaps. As a recognized subject matter expert, oversee planning, design, and implementation of technical solutions.
• Develop solution definitions and solution architectures. Assist management in business case development and scenario planning for effective decision making. Present information to management, business owners, and other stakeholders.
• Partner with project managers to implement processes according to the evolving needs of the team and solutions. Define the technical scope and requirements of projects and assist project managers with managing scope throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure adequate test coverage during unit testing, system/integration testing, and performance testing.
• Guide the team through all phases of the SDLC of an application. Lead production incident and problem management, identifying root causes and resolving issues. Mentor, coach, and assist project team members.
• Conduct brownbag sessions on new and emerging technologies, methodologies, and frameworks. Provide technical training to the team. Assist with the selection of technical resources for projects.

All about You/Experience

You should apply if:

• you have advanced knowledge of core computer science concepts, design patterns, architecture fundamentals, and software security principles-and can guide teams in applying them effectively;
• you have a strong track record of serving as the technical owner for a team-driving architecture, supervising implementation, ensuring code quality, and supporting delivery from concept to production;
• you have deep hands-on experience building scalable, distributed systems using Java and Spring Boot, with a strong emphasis on microservices architecture and operational excellence;
• while comfortable with modern front-end technologies like JavaScript, TypeScript, Vue.js, React, or Angular, your primary strength lies in back-end and systems design;
• you have a worked with teams or projects that integrate AI/ML capabilities into enterprise applications-via APIs, embedded models, or intelligent platform services;
• you are proficient in designing and reviewing RESTful APIs and event-driven or asynchronous architectures, and you help establish best practices across teams;
• you actively mentor engineers, foster technical growth, and contribute to a culture of innovation, quality, and continuous improvement;
• you are comfortable working cross-functionally with product, data science, and infrastructure teams, and excel at aligning technical direction with business goals;
• you're excited to lead the development of globally impactful, intelligent software used by hundreds of millions of users

• you have first-hand knowledge of a wide range of technologies - databases, messaging, caches, API gateways, networking, pipelines, cryptography, - and preferably the products we use such as Jenkins, Splunk, Akamai, Dynatrace, etc..
