Director Sustainability Product Development

Mastercard's global Sustainability Innovation Lab is spearheading the further development of the company's portfolio of environmentally conscious digital products and solutions.
To ensure both people and the planet can thrive as the global economy rapidly digitizes, the Lab's mission is to enable people to thrive within planetary boundaries. It serves a platform for innovation, collaboration and execution of new sustainable business solutions, with the goal of accelerating the shift to the decoupled economy.
Our diverse team of experts in engineering, design, business development, and sustainability welcome the new Director of Product Development. Product Development at Mastercard encompasses the solutioning, UX mapping, engineering and commercialization of new capabilities, initiatives and services based on the technologies developed by Mastercard and our partners. The role will lead the development of new, innovative products and solutions with a focus on sustainability, driving revenue and strategic differentiation for Mastercard. The team sits within the Mastercard Foundry - Mastercard's innovation engine and a hub for new product development. We do this by driving product innovation in emerging technologies and interfaces while focusing on developing a point of view to enhance existing solutions and developing new use-cases for established products. We also focus on building revenue generating ecosystems and flywheels that can be standalone in adjacent segments and markets.

What you will do
• Develop new digital payment products and services with a focus on sustainability, in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders globally and regionally.
• Evaluate market opportunities, create compelling narratives, and drive business cases that demonstrate value for Mastercard and the sustainability transition.
• Lead prototyping and in-market testing, and drive product commercialization with Global Product and partner teams
• Drive thought leadership and the learning agenda across sustainability innovation
• Build and maintain key stakeholder relationships as a trusted partner for sustainability innovation and product development.
• Effectively partner and align with various Mastercard teams (e.g., Technology, Operations, Legal) to develop solutions, gain support, and ensure a successful go-to-market plan
• Manage and develop project teams, junior product managers, and analysts, and attract high-quality talent to Mastercard.

Who you are
• Experience in developing digital products, including opportunity identification, concept development, business model innovation, and in-market testing of global products.
• In-depth understanding of sustainability issues and awareness of global commerce trends and emerging technologies.
• Strong curiosity and a desire to continuously learn about new innovations and opportunities that support the transition towards decoupled economies.
• Experience in various aspects of new product development, including product strategy, branding, sales enablement, market positioning, end-to-end customer experience, partnerships/alliances, operations, and performance.
• Background in payments, financial services, technology, or corporate innovation.
• Technical expertise and experience working with R&D teams.
• Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, ability to create compelling narratives and business cases.
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to effectively communicate with executives, peers, and staff with impact, eloquence, and authenticity.
• Ability to manage senior stakeholders within and outside of Mastercard.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Environmental Science preferred.
• Fluency in English is required.
