Mars Inc.

Sr. Material Development Scientist

Franklin, TN

Job Description:

This role is part of the regional R&D team and is key in ensuring MARS delivers products of high and consistent quality through the use of high quality and safe ingredients.

Achieving this will require close work and collaboration with vendor assurance and commercial buyers to ensure suppliers deliver fit for purpose ingredients as defined by MARS Petcare. This includes understanding the ingredient in terms of its nutritional delivery, functionality, processing, microbiology and overall quality. They will use this knowledge of the ingredient portfolio to collaborate with relevant interfaces to identify new opportunities such as quality improvement, harmonization and new ingredient identification. The backbone upon which all this can be achieved is a solid understanding of Mars Material Quality Management, with ideas for continuous improvement of this shared when seen. Also, given this role's connection with a deeper understanding of ingredients, they are a key contact (both internally and externally) for technical questions and troubleshooting linked to the ingredient portfolio.
