The Role
This role is to ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of our production systems. You will focus on implementing engineering principles to automate operations, enhance system reliability and monitoring, reduce repetitive manual effort, and improve the overall client and user experience. As a Production Support Engineer, this person will be responsible for designing and maintaining monitoring and infrastructure, tools, automation, and other technology. By leveraging expertise in automation, incident management, and performance optimization, the successful candidate will contribute to building robust and resilient systems that support business goals.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electronic trading systems as well as experience building monitoring solutions to increase the reliability and performance of production electronic trading systems.
How You’ll Help Take Us There
- Production Process Optimization: Develop, implement, and continuously improve production processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure product quality.
- Build and enhance monitoring systems to provide visibility into the system health and uptime.
- Provide technical expertise and support to production teams, troubleshooting issues and implementing solutions to minimize downtime and improve operational reliability.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the production engineering and support functions. Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements and apply relevant innovations to enhance operational performance.
- Communicate technical plans, progress, and issues to stakeholders, including technical and non-technical audiences.
- Present technical designs, project plans, and status updates to various stakeholders, including senior management.
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency, productivity, and quality.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, design documents, and technical guides.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and technical standards.
Involvement in production support responsibilities will also include:
- Provide cover to the Live and Test trading systems, ensuring smooth running of trading system servers and services
- Form part of the global support roster to assist in our follow the sun model. Participate in weekend support rosters
- Provide technical support to the external Dealer and Client users of the MarketAxess GUI application and other MA products
- Provide 2nd line support services for client services and account management teams
- Support external users of the API interfaces
- Monitoring system servers and ensuring appropriate monitoring is in place
- Raise and track issues through the use of the Jira ticketing mechanism.
What We’re Looking For
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in production engineering, production support, or a related field.
- A minimum 5 years’ experience in building and customizing ITRS Geneos monitoring systems.
- Experience with Grafana also preferred.
- Proficiency with Jira and Salesforce Service Cloud
- Proven experience in implementing engineering projects, with the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and deliver results.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with high-speed, high-volume transactional trading systems
- Strong Python, Linux/Bash, SQL, and XML skills
- Experience using FIX Protocol
