Scope:
Director of Portfolio Management Office (PMO) oversee the project management process within the Mission Department including governance, team leadership, tracking and monitoring, prioritization, communication and quality controls.
Responsibilities:
Governance:
- Develop, implement, and govern project management processes, tools, templates, policies and metrics.
- Monitor compliance with project policies and standards.
Team Leadership:
- Oversee team of project management practitioners to ensure delivery of strategic Mission projects on time, within scope and on budget.
- Coach and mentor project management staff and share knowledge of best practices.
- Set annual performance targets for direct reports and conduct performance reviews.

Tracking and Monitoring:
- Track and provide project status and audit reports.
- Manage the risk, issue and change resolution process, and work with other leaders to take corrective action as needed.
- Ensure contract compliance and reporting to the donors.
Prioritization:
- Provide executive leaders with the information needed to assess and decide which funding proposals are highest potential value, impact and strategic alignment.
- Interface with executive leaders to define project priorities, implementation opportunities, challenges and communicate project risks and opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Four-year college degree or equivalent experience
- Master's degree, preferred
- Proven track record of successful project delivery, an ability to improve project management practices and substantial team leadership experience with a focus on team development.
- Expert‐level knowledge of project and change management, methodologies, techniques, processes
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or PMI certification, highly desired.
- Leadership: Ability to establish and manage a high‐performance team.
- Communication: Adept at effective communication; ensure clear and open communication, reducing misunderstandings and conflicts
- Adaptability: Ability to adjust to changing scenarios and timelines
- Time management: Adept at managing their own time and determine how their team spends theirs; self starter
- Problem solving: adept at guiding the team in resolving challenges and conflicts that arise during the project.
- Goal achievement: ensure that the team remains aligned with the project objectives. The team members understand their roles and are focused on achieving common goals.
