Senior HR Generalist

The mission of the People team is to make Lob a best in class place to work, where high performers thrive and top talent is fighting to get in the door to be part of a culture where people can be their authentic best selves. The Senior HR Generalist will be a key member of the Employee Experience function, playing a critical role in providing an exemplary experience at Lob and ensuring the diverse needs of our employees are met in alignment with business goals and policies. On a tactical level, you will own and manage company benefits, policy improvement and compliance, HRIS management, leave administration and partner with cross functional stakeholders such as Legal and Finance teams.  

As the Senior HR Generalist, you’ll…

  • Serve as first point of contact on HR inquiries related to policies, benefits, leaves, accommodations, and other HR policies or procedures; partner with the broader People team to identify training needs and develop programs to address
  • Implement, administer, and iterate upon employee policies and procedures to ensure a great experience and ensure compliance 
  • Administer Lob’s benefits programs, including annual open enrollment, manage rate renewal negotiations and recommend policy improvements 
  • Maintain, update, and regularly audit employee data across HR systems (HRIS, employee folders, etc.) to maintain accuracy and compliance; process new hire, termination, and general personnel updates in HRIS, in conjunction with Finance 
  • Conduct employee background checks and escalate for adjudication, as needed
  • Stay informed of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, HR trends, and best practices and surface recommendations to People, Leadership, and other internal stakeholders to maintain compliance
  • Coordinate with Finance for HR-related reporting requirements such as EEOC and CA Pay Data reports
  • Manage third-party relationships with vendors (benefits, HRIS, EOR relationships, background checks, etc.)
  • Partner with Director of People in  investigations related to workplace violations of policy, harassment, ethics, or discrimination complaints 
  • Partner with Immigration Counsel to address ad hoc immigration needs
  • Support reporting and data pull requests
  • Support employee offboarding as needed, including prepping exit paperwork, conducting termination conversations as needed

What will you bring to this role…

  • Bachelor's Degree with SHRM certification or equivalent preferred 
  • 7+ years of HR/People experience, 2+ years Generalist experience 
  • Deep subject matter expertise in benefits, compliance, and HRIS
  • Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism
  • Strong analytical skills, highly proficient in Excel (or similar, i.e. Google Sheets) and HRIS platforms. Paylocity experience strongly preferred
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Courage and conviction to own policy administration and communication while also providing a high level of care and professionalism 
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Bias to action; comfortable managing multiple and changing priorities
  • Service mindset; happy to answer any employee questions and always thinking of ways to make information more clear to our people
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, excellent time management skills; able to effectively prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, evolving work environment

Compensation information:

The compensation for this position is structured to include a base salary + RSUs. Base salary bands are listed below.

CA/NYC Tier:

Base: $165,000.00 - $176,250.00

US Tier:

Base: $155,000.00 - $166,250.00

Salary is one part of total compensation, which also includes equity, perks and competitive benefits. Salary decisions are based on many factors including geographic location, qualifications for the role, skillset, proficiency and experience level. Lob reasonably expects to pay candidates who are offered roles within the provided salary ranges.”
