The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Description

Helmsman has an opening on our Data Services team supporting our takeover operations. The work involves taking claims and claims data from another third party administrator (TPA) and performing the work required to prepare the data for ingestion into our claims systems so that we can manage the claims going forward. Candidates for this role will perform detailed analysis, transformation, and validation using data from numerous different sources. Utilizes skills and expertise in Data Management best practices and acts based on various factors (e.g., data insights, regulatory changes, feedback from quality assurance reviews, changing requirements, etc.) to facilitate the transfer of customer data to support and improve business outcomes.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides detailed analysis, transformation, and validation using data from various sources.
  • Utilizes skills and expertise in Data Management best practices to include business need analysis, data source identification and analysis, data modeling techniques, metadata and master data management standards to deliver data solutions that support business need.
  • Provides data element naming consistent with standards and conventions and ensures that data is accurate and complete.
  • Consults with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and business partners across the organization in resolving questions and applying best practices during the takeover process.
  • Provides in-depth consulting to data stakeholders in the identification and resolution of information flow and content issues.
  • Owns, manages, and executes all aspects of the Helmsman Data Services implementation project from start to finish, including planning, organizing, executing workflow, and communicating progress to key stakeholders and the aligned Implementation Manager.
  • Utilizes technical expertise to ensure data is accurate and compliant to format, and of high quality. Data is analyzed, transformed, tested/validated, and presented in a way that supports loading the data in target environments. Contributes to data standards best practices.
  • In conjunction with team, analyzes, develops, tests, and delivers customer value through high quality and accurate data transformation/load process using best practices and standard work.
  • Analyzes information to identify trends, patterns, gaps, and insights to build tools and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Receives, evaluates, and responds to data-related inquiries by applying knowledge of data and business operations and obtaining information from various sources.
  • Provides guidance and/or mentorship to less experienced staff.
Proficiency with Mainframe database tools, Excel, SAS, Python, and ETL tools is preferred.

Qualifications
  • Displays strong research, problem solving, analytical, critical thinking, influencing, relationship management, and presentation skills.
  • Strong business operations knowledge to include understanding the function's value chain and market conditions.
  • Solid ability to support change and impart value within an organization.
  • Solid project management skills as part of implementing business process changes.
  • Strong knowledge of available data sources, strengths and shortcomings.
  • May also be relevant based on the particular needs of the position
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and solid knowledge of database software.
  • Solid knowledge of business intelligence tools preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in addition to 5+ years of relevant experience to include business analysis work.
