The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
Description
The North America (NA) & Surety Senior Reinsurance Analyst manages projects that are non-cyclical and varied, aligning with the project management life cycle (initiating/defining; planning; executing; close-out) and supporting business priorities. The selected candidate will also perform other project work, such as research and analysis.
At this level, the NA & Surety Reinsurance Analyst manages a significant portfolio of projects to include those considered complex in nature with function-wide and/or SBU-wide impact. This position sits in a relatively newly formed team within the Office of Underwriting and is critical to our underwriting performance objectives.
There is a strong preference for the selected candidate to live in the EST or CST time zone.
If the selected candidate lives within 50 miles of a GRS office, then the selected candidate must be able to come into the office two times/week. This policy is subject to change.

Responsibilities:
- Conducts project meetings with senior and executive leadership and prepares regular reports to communicate the status of projects to stakeholders within and beyond the project team
- Run various annual reinsurance renewal processes, including data submission preparation and review, and delivery of the reinsurance placements
- Maintain the various internal reinsurance allocation models
- Coordinate annual internal and external reinsurance planning
- Work collaboratively with cross functional departments, including but not limited to Global Re, Underwriting, Finance, and Actuarial
- Assist with documentation and communication of the internal and external reinsurance treaties to all necessary departments, such as Finance, Operations and Actuarial. This includes production of Summary of Terms, Reinsurance Schematics, net loss examples and other relevant reports.
- Ensure appropriate reports are developed, maintained and communicated to assist reinsurance monitoring.
- Manages a portfolio of projects to include those considered complex in nature with function-wide and/or SBU-wide impact. Examples of complexity: highly technical, substantial budget impact, high visibility, long tail, many stakeholders crossing multiple functional groups, outside U.S. arena, etc.
- Performs all activities throughout the project management lifecycle:
- Collaborates with stakeholders to define and gain agreement on the project business case, objectives, scope, timing and resources.
- Plans activities/tasks that will deliver the desired results and oversees day-to-day work and monitoring of progress towards goals.
- Ensures resources are optimally sourced and deployed.
- Adeptly builds consensus and gains buy-in among stakeholders across the organization.
- Identifies and provides visibility into trade-offs between options, while strongly influencing recommended approach.
- Performs project close-out steps to include identifying lessons learned/best practices to inform the success of future projects.
- Applies continuous improvement methodologies throughout the project management lifecycle.
- Provides mentoring to less experienced staff.
- Expert-level ability in managing all aspects of the project management life cycle for multiple projects at one time to include those complex in nature.
- Advanced knowledge of project management tools.
- Strong ability to adapt and address unique challenges in collaborative and creative ways. Project management certification strongly preferred.
- Displays advanced communication, organizational, analytical, critical thinking, and team building skills as well as advanced presentation, influencing, and relationship management skills.
- Advanced business operations knowledge to include understanding the function's value chain and market conditions strongly preferred.
- Competencies typically acquired through a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience to include project management work.
- Fundamental knowledge of reinsurance
- Advanced knowledge of data management and manipulation in MS Excel
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills including presentation skills to senior leadership audiences.
