Sr. M365 Cloud Engineer - Defender

Leidos has an opening for a Sr. Cloud Engineer (Defender) to support the ESA V program. ESA V is an IT Services program supporting several customers within the Department of Justice and other federal agencies. The program provides a range of IT services, including help desk, deskside support, Windows engineering and maintenance, managed print services, ITSM, Account Management Services, Cybersecurity, Cloud technologies and other IT services.

We will be a key part of the team delivering workstation support and solutions for a mission-critical U.S. Government program that has a rapidly growing demand for information to be securely accessible anywhere, anytime, from any device.

The individual selected for this position will be a member of the Cloud Support team and the primary work location will be Washington, DC with work performed remotely. This individual will work with client stakeholders to improve the capability and capacity of the workstation management service to reliably meet the needs of a mobile, zero trust, geo-dispersed workforce. The successful candidate will have extensive hands-on experience Microsoft Defender, Entra ID, Purview, and Intune. This includes supporting workstations and mobile devices. May also support deploying and supporting software for Windows operating systems and mobile devices. The candidate must also have practical experience with government security standards, and workstation security hardening.

You will work closely with the Chief Engineer and Infrastructure Operations Manager and will be a part of the Cloud Support team on the following key tasks:

  • Responsible for managing and maintaining Microsoft technologies and services with a strong focus on security
  • Configuring, troubleshooting, and enhancing M365 services and applications
  • Collaborating with other cloud support team members and supporting end-users
  • Implementing and maintaining Microsoft 365 tools to maximize productivity, collaboration, and data security
  • Complete incident tickets and service requests within SLA and in a modern tracking system
  • Work with desktop support, infrastructure, networking, and applications engineering teams to implement and maintain a workstation and mobile device security strategy
  • Attend meetings with the customer as required.
  • Provide weekly reporting of issues and projects
  • Utilize M365, and other tools to support a highly mobile, zero trust and geographically diverse customer
  • Apply DoD STIGS and VPR's as identified
  • Ability and willingness to work extended hours or modified schedule for planned and emergency work.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Security Information Systems, or related technical field or equivalent experience with at least 8+ years relevant experience (6+ years with a MS/MIS Degree) Additional years of experience and/or relevant certifications will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience
  • Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work with a large diverse team supporting multiple customers in a shared team environment.
  • Design and implement a secure M365 environment
  • Implement and manage Microsoft Defender for endpoint protection
  • In-depth Experience utilizing and supporting Microsoft Defender, Entra ID, Intune
  • Extensive experience working in a zero trust environment
  • Configure advanced threat protection policies, conduct threat analysis, and respond to security incidents.
  • Monitor and analyze security logs, alerts, and reports to ensure effective threat detection and prevention
  • Perform follow-up through system monitoring and communication with users and other support teams
  • Configure and monitor appropriate alerts to allow for quick response to security risks
  • Support the integration of Microsoft 365 with other business applications.
  • Implement and enforce security policies, including data loss prevention (DLP) and access control
  • Ensure Microsoft 365 services and endpoints are up to date with the latest patches and security.
  • Manage Entra ID security controls and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills are required to effectively interface with executive level to individual contributors.
  • Ability to lead support issues to a successful conclusion while updating management and senior leadership.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Candidate selected will be subject to a Government Public Trust security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to the customer's information.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Desired Qualifications:

  • 6 years of experience with workstation systems management systems (i.e. Defender, Entra ID, Purview, etc...) administration support
  • 8 years of experience in an operations role
  • Proficiency in managing Microsoft Defender, Intune, Purview, and Entra ID
  • Familiarity with PowerShell and Batch scripting for automation and management
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and provide effective solutions, in a confidential manner.
  • Have a firm grasp and insight into current and impending M365 technologies to be able to plan and adapt to future goals.
  • Government contracting experience, particularly with the DOJ
  • DOJ or DoD Clearance
  • CISSP Certification
  • Ability to create and speak to Microsoft PowerPoint presentations and Excel spreadsheet reports.

Salary Range for this position: $128K - $136K

Pay Range:

Pay Range $101,400.00 - $183,300.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
