Software Engineer Lead

Description

The Leidos Maritime System Division (MSD) develops and deploys advanced technology solutions that address existing and emerging maritime missions of national importance for a broad range of customers across the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, other governmental agencies, and commercial clients. MSD is currently seeking a qualified, energetic technical leader to fill a leadership position on our Unmanned Surface Vessels (USV) team. The USV team works on distributed sensors, control systems, and the "brains" of robot boats used by a variety of customers.

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will collaborate with customers and the Leidos team to design and write software, ensure delivery of high-quality work, and support the overall process. This role will have a supervisory component, providing coaching and guidance to other engineers on the team. In this position you will also travel to events where your software is tested in real life applications.

The successful applicant will work collaboratively with an outstanding group of engineers and technologists and be responsible for continuing to build a high performing team, while communicating with customer software experts to build on understanding of needed solutions.

Primary Responsibilities

• Directly supervise team of 4 software engineers, providing coaching and guidance

• Provide support to program leadership in our Autonomous Surface Vessel business area

• Coordinate and prepare for daily, weekly, and ad hoc meetings, to include development of agendas and report progress, working with internal and external stakeholders

• Collaborate with MSD managers and other technical leads to support capture and relative business development activities

• Supervising field tests of unmanned systems

• Own tasks, in collaboration with the team, taking the initiative to come up with solutions and the integrity to make sure they are done right

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, plus a minimum of four (4) years of related experience

• Experience with Microsoft Project

• Experience with C++, Java, C, or Python

• Experience in a Linux environment with software development, including experience designing solutions to complex problems and turning them into implementation plans.

• Experience with Scrum or SAFe development processes

Must be a US Citizen and either currently hold a Secret security clearance or have the ability to obtain one.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $81,250.00 - $146,875.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
