Position Summary

Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Software Engineer, Lead in Birmingham, AL.

Work You'll Do

Design, develop, debug, test, deploy and support custom applications and modules that meet business requirements. Participate in requirements analysis. Collaborate with vendors' teams to produce software design and architecture. Write clean, scalable code using .NET programming languages. Test and deploy applications and systems. Revise, update, refactor and debug code. Develop, support and maintain applications and technology solutions. Ensure that all development efforts meet or exceed client expectations. Familiarize with all development tools, testing tools, methodologies and processes as well as with the scrum methodology and processes. Ensure the quality and low bug rates of code released into production. Work on Agile projects, participate in regular SCRUM calls and provide task updates. Provide support during design and key development phases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
  • Eighteen months as a Software Engineer, Lead or related occupation gaining software development experience.
  • Experience must include eighteen months of:
    • Performing software development using C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server, Windows services, and cloud hosting platforms;
    • Utilizing .NET programming to write and develop scalable code;
    • Interfacing with business analysts and clients to understand business problems, translating business needs into functional and nonfunctional requirements, creating technical design documents, and ensuring the delivery of appropriate technical solutions;
    • Collaborating with a team of developers to deliver end-to-end web solutions and assisting with the day-to-day activities of a development team in an Agile environment;
    • Designing and building object oriented applications, and designing data objects, functions, and stored procedures in SQL Server;
    • Creating unit test plans and scenarios for development unit testing, performing unit testing for new development, and documenting new development, procedures or test plans;
    • Utilizing SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to develop ETL packages;
    • Developing and supporting web applications using jQuery, MVC framework, and web API;
    • Utilizing Waterfall and Agile methodologies to conceptualize, design, and code technical solutions; and
    • Performing all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, analysis, planning, design, system information, performance tuning, features testing, helping security testing and support.
