Leidos is seeking a versatile and proactive Principal Systems Engineer to serve as the central point of coordination for the delivery, support, and evolution of a newly launched technical product. This role will govern operational readiness, customer support structures, and backend integrations-ensuring the team hits the ground running and stays ahead of performance challenges.

The ideal candidate is part strategist, part technologist, and all about making things work-for both users and internal teams.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact across engineering, DevOps, and help desk functions
  • Govern end-to-end operations including support tickets, CONOPS development, and incident response
  • Lead the analysis and triage of user issues-distinguishing between data, infrastructure, or software causes
  • Define and oversee the product's customer support system, ensuring clear escalation paths
  • Collaborate with backend engineers and DevOps to optimize system configuration and uptime
  • Shape and document product operations, support processes, and usage guidance
  • Proactively drive improvements in data handling, user workflows, and system setup

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • Twenty (20) years' experience as a Systems Engineer supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts is required.
  • Clearance Required: Must have an active TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Systems Engineer supporting real-world deployments
  • Strong understanding of DevOps, backend system architecture, and software workflows
  • Experience managing ticketing systems and support pipelines
  • Able to interpret and represent data effectively to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience developing CONOPS or similar operational frameworks

Pay Range $148,850.00 - $269,075.00
