Job Summary

The Lead Systems Engineer will be at the forefront of leading a team of over 30 Systems Engineers responsible for delivering innovative Cryptographic Key Management solutions utilizing the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology. The position requires the highest knowledge and mastery of advanced technologies, scientific principles, and theories and concepts to meet stated performance metrics. This includes collaboration with Control Account Managers (CAMs), Release Train Engineers (RTEs), government stakeholders, and corporate subject matter experts. Direct communication with senior executives is expected on a routine basis and requires the ability to negotiate the acceptance of technical concepts, requirements, tactics, techniques and procedures required for the successful execution of the program. Leadership in the role will also include the responsibility for mentoring and developing other technical professionals.

Responsibilities

The selected individual will be responsible for the development of highly innovative products and solutions achieved through collaboration and dialogue with other experts in the field. She/he will:

  • Lead the program's technical solution on a day-to-day basis, to include collaborating across the Agile Release Train (ART) ensuring work products are aligned with stated requirements and usability for mission stakeholders.
  • Leverage systems engineering processes ensuring technical requirement packages remain within scope, cost, and schedule. This requires continuous review and improvement in the design, development, integration, test, and deployment capabilities across all tasks of the program.
  • Chair the Engineering Review Board (ERB), System Integration Board (SIB), Defect Review Board (DRB), and Interface Review Board (IRB); and coordinate and facilitate Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM) to gather information required of the program, or present designs and other technical artifacts for discussion and acceptance.
  • Oversee the delivery of systems engineering work products to ensure the accuracy and completeness of technical content is represented with the highest standard for all written and verbal deliverables.
  • Execute problem solving capabilities to include identification of mitigations based on the assessment of reliable metrics. This is a continuous process executed within the role to ensure programmatic risks are appropriately identified and well-managed.
  • Be responsible for the development of highly innovative products and solutions achieved through collaboration and dialogue with other experts in the field.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Engineering Science, Computer Science, or a related field, and at least 15 years of related experience. Additional relevant work experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Must have experience in agile development, agile systems engineering, or SAFe. One of the following certifications is required: Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Advanced Certified Scrum Master (A-CSM), Certified Scrum Professional Scrum Master (CSP-SM), SAFe DevOps Practitioner (SDP), SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), Certified Scrum Developer (CSD), SAFe Agilist (SA), SAFe Practitioner (SP), or equivalent independent certification.
  • Prior DevOps experience is a must with an emphasis on collaboration, communication, and automation enabling faster and more reliable software development.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. This includes collaboratively working across a large-scale acquisition category (ACAT) I program.
  • Must have demonstrated experience leading a team of technical/scientific personnel to include program execution, goal setting, professional development, and completion of annual performance assessments.
  • Clearance Required: Must have TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional certification (CISSP).
  • Master's or Doctorate degree in System Engineering, Engineering Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Understanding of SecDevOps as a framework for adding security best practices within the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience with Behavior Driven Development (BDD) or Test-Driven Development (TDD) to include the use of a domain-specific language.
  • Prior experience serving as the Chair of various Governance Boards with demonstrated skills in issue resolution.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $148,850.00 - $269,075.00
