Leidos' Defense Systems has an opportunity for a Data Scientist in Huntsville, Alabama. The prospective employee will function within the PMO ASE, aiding Product Offices through providing in-depth detailed analysis of data recorded/collected during test execution of various U.S. Army Aircraft Survivability Equipment (ASE) on rotary and fixed wing aircraft. As part of the Test Team, the candidate will write data analysis plans and provide onsite and post-test analysis of U.S. Army laboratory, ground, flight, and free flight missile testing results using custom developed analysis tools. Post-test activities include the candidate providing detailed technical out-briefs of analyses to senior U.S. Army Officers and Civilians. Other daily duties include providing technical input to test directors and reviewing testing areas.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Draw conclusions and report results from testing to determine engineering sufficiency for the implementation of system upgrades.
  • Lead team analysis efforts and present both individual and team results to the customer.
  • Evaluate system-level requirements to ascertain the adequacy of ASE capabilities, interfaces, and associated behaviors. Interpret model results and test findings from prior testing to guide future assessment needs.
  • Application of practical knowledge to flight testing principles and concepts, specifically for developmental and system qualification testing of DoD aircraft, is a key duty.
  • Experience with aircraft survivability equipment and in-depth knowledge of test & evaluation programs and practices.
  • A central role in working within a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
  • Exercise strong analytical and problem-solving abilities as a primary function

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in technical discipline (Engineering, Mathematics, Physics) plus 4-8 years of experience in Missile Systems, Weapon Systems, Infrared Seeker Systems, and Radar Engineering & Analysis; Modeling & Simulation; Testing, and Software Development or Master's in technical discipline (Engineering, Mathematics, Physics) plus 2-6 years of experience in Missile Systems, Weapon Systems, Infrared Seeker Systems, and Radar Engineering & Analysis; Modeling & Simulation; Testing, and Software Development
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, with additional experience in Java, C, etc., is a primary requirement.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) Final Secret Clearance
  • Must be a resident of Huntsville, AL or willing to relocate to the Huntsville, AL area.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
