The Digital Modernization sector within Leidos has an opening for a Automation Test Engineer for the Global Solution Management - Operations II (GSM-O II) contract. This contract includes the Operations, Sustainment, Maintenance, Repair, and Defense of the Defense Information System Network (DISN) within the DOD Information Network (DODIN) in support of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). It also includes support to other key tasks for DISA, including the transformation of DISA's operational mission through innovation, and support to DISA's mission partners. This position is located virtually in the Ft. Meade, MD or Scott AFB, IL area. One must live within driving distance of Fort Meade or Scott AFB as they will need to be in the office as needed.

The Automation Test Engineer is responsible for working within a fast paced, Agile team to support developing a robust automated testing solution to ensure the quality and performance our innovation deployments. This position will be expected to automate unit and functional tests that verifies tool functionality and integration within existing frameworks in the AWS Cloud and integrating into DevOps pipeline, whilst at the same time, mentoring and guiding junior and new members of the team. The individual will work with the New Innovations internal development and implementation teams, operational end users, and support teams to analyze, build and maintain automated test frameworks. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with test automation frameworks, unit and regression testing, API validation, performance testing, and integration with test management tools. Work with tools such as Selenium, Junit, JMeter and others to support scalable and efficient test practices.

Primary Responsibilities

The successful candidate primary responsibility will be:

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks with hands-on automation experience on complex applications with multiple integrations using Selenium, JUnit, and/or UiPath.
  • Write and execute automated test scripts for regression, integration, and end-to-end scenarios.
  • Develop and maintain performance testing automation using tools such as JMeter to evaluate system scalability and responsiveness.
  • Collaborate and contribute to test-driven development (TDD) with developers to contribute to unit testing and ensure proper test coverage.
  • Perform API testing using tools like Postman, REST Assured, or similar.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Bitbucket) that tests systems to be deployed across a variety of environments in AWS Cloud.
  • Integrate with test management tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence, Xray, etc..) to record automated test results and automatically open defects (test report)
  • Analyze test results, identify bugs, and work closely with developers to resolve issues.
  • Document test processes, results, and maintain traceability across test artifacts.
  • Continuously improve test automation strategies, frameworks, and tools.
  • Ability to lead, mentor and guide junior and new members of the team
  • Ensuring that the test strategy is maintained and updated as needed in accordance with best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Employing exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily standups, sprint planning meetings, sprint reviews and sprint retrospectives.
  • Conduct troubleshooting/test execution in support of remediation efforts as required

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 8-12 years of professional experience; or 6-10 years of professional experience with a related Master's degree.
  • Must be a U.S Citizen with an active DoD Secret clearance.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in automation testing & Quality Control practices
  • Proficient in Selenium, Junit and scripting languages
  • Knowledge of performance testing tools (JMeter, LoadRunner)
  • Active Security+ Certification (or other applicable 8570 required certification), or ability to obtain one in a short timeframe
  • Hands-on experience with API testing tools and techniques
  • Strong SDLC, Agile methodologies and testing lifecycle
  • Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins), JIRA, Git repo and Confluence
  • Experience with cloud-based AWS services and containerized applications (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to collaborate with customer representatives, domain experts, systems engineers and architects
  • Ability to work well/collaborate with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience
  • Experience testing open-source and COTS technology

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of ITIL foundation or ITIL certified
  • Experience with behavioral driven development (BDD)
  • Experience with DevOps/DevSecOps, Configuration as Code, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD implementation
  • Experience with Xray Test Management
  • Experience developing test cases for system requirements across multiple subsystems/tools
  • Experience and domain knowledge related to data processing
  • AWS cloud certifications

Pay Range:

Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00
