VP, Enterprise Financial Excellence

The Vice President, Enterprise Finance Excellence (VP, EFE) is an innovative, strategic finance leader focused on driving strategic value creation. This role is responsible for building and embedding a finance excellence framework for the organization with a goal to illuminate facts, inform decisions, and empower actions that create value through capital efficiency, profitable revenue growth, and sustainable margin expansion.

They will act as a change agent, working closely with the Enterprise Chief Financial Officer and the Finance Leadership Team (FLT) to embed a culture of financial discipline, innovation, and analytics-driven decision-making to drive value creation. This leader will play a critical role in enabling the finance function to become more agile, insights-driven, and performance-focused-supporting a future-ready finance organization. The leader will also work with the business and Executive committee leaders in driving a sustainable margin expansion strategy for the enterprise.

The VP, EFE reports to the SVP, Chief Financial Officer for BLS and Enterprise Finance Excellence and leads a team to collaborate with senior-level Finance leadership to drive the execution of operating mechanisms for the business in line with strategic and operational priorities. They serve as a trusted advisor and key operational partner, coordinating cross-functional initiatives and ensuring smooth execution of strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads, or serves as Finance lead on, select cross-functional projects aimed at improving financial and operational performance using methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or other relevant frameworks.

    • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets.
    • Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational performance.
    • Gather, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
    • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to track operational performance.
    • Utilize data to support decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
    • Analyze performance data to identify trends and ongoing opportunities for improvement.
    • Monitors project progress and ensure timely completion.
  • Leads Finance Operational Excellence effort:

    • In partnership with SVP, FP&A, CFO and entire FLT, design and lead initiatives to streamline and digitize core finance processes, including planning, forecasting, reporting, and close. Designs and establishes a scalable operational excellence framework within the finance organization, to include facilitating communication, project management, and analysis to support effective decision making. Function as a liaison between Finance leadership and other internal/external stakeholders.
    • Define KPIs and performance benchmarks aligned with margin expansion goals.
    • Create a culture focused on continuous improvement and strategic cost optimization.
    • Partner with Corporate FP&A, controllership, procurement, and business finance teams to identify and execute opportunities that improve profitability and productivity.
    • Create and implement robust governance mechanisms for financial performance programs, ensuring cross-functional accountability and measurable results.
    • Develop and maintain a financial excellence playbook, standardizing tools and methodologies for opportunity identification, value capture, and tracking.
  • Drives Margin Expansion Strategy:

    • Partner with business unit and Executive Committee leaders to identify opportunities for margin improvement across the organization and all lines of investment.
    • Conduct financial modeling and ROI analysis for operational improvement initiatives.
    • Translate insights into actionable plans with measurable outcomes.
    • Influence senior leadership across the organization, promoting transformational changes that allow for sustainable margin expansion.

  • Drives Process Optimization & Performance Management:

    • Lead select enterprise-wide process improvement initiatives with a focus on financial impact.
    • Standardize and automate key financial and operational processes to enhance efficiency and scalability.
    • Monitor and report on cost savings, productivity gains, and process performance, with a focus on optimization.
  • Finance Transformation Support

    • Act as a key partner in enterprise finance transformation, helping to shape the finance operating model of the future.
    • Lead or support initiatives to modernize financial systems and data architecture in alignment with digital finance strategies.
    • Enable the shift from transactional activities to strategic business partnering across the finance organization.
    • Facilitate cross-functional alignment to ensure finance contributes meaningfully to enterprise transformation goals.
    • Drive simplification and standardization of financial processes across geographies, functions, and business units.
    • Partner with IT, and business leaders to implement automation, workflow tools, and lean finance principles.


    • Facilitates clear communication channels within Operational Excellence, the Finance Leadership Team (FLT), Enterprise CFO and other departments, including drafting presentations, summarizing key points, and preparing communication materials in partnership with Chief Communications Officer.
    • Keeps Enterprise CFO and FLT abreast of external insights, industry and market trends, and internal performance metrics as it relates to Operational Excellence.
    • Frequently engages with and present to the Executive Committee members- Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Segment Presidents, Chief Human Resources Officer, Chief Marketing Officer, and Chief Information Officer.

    Ideal Candidate Profile

    Experience & Qualifications

    • Prior leadership in a finance transformation, cost reduction, or FP&A optimization role at a large, complex global organization.
    • Experience in applying lean, Six Sigma, agile, or process improvement methodologies to finance operations and enterprise cost structures.
    • Strong financial acumen combined with operational mindset and business savvy.
    • Financial or operational excellence experience in life sciences, with an emphasis on operational outcomes, financial metrics and performance, organizational change and culture, collaborative, and situational leadership.
    • Strong analytical skills and business acumen, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization with the highest integrity and confidentiality. History of driving ambiguous and complex projects.
    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Engineering or related field; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
