If 'yes' then we are recruiting for a Trainee Operational Support Technician - Histology. This is a role suited to someone who has an interest in science but who may not have a scientific related education or background.
This role is to be based at Harrogate, North Yorkshire, where you will play an integral part in achieving our mission by providing laboratory based technical and operational support to colleagues working on studies of the Histology department.
The Trainee Operational Support Technician will undertake training to develop the skills and knowledge required to perform operational support procedures to the required quality and quantity thresholds.

Following a comprehensive training and career development scheme, the responsibilities of this varied role will include:
- Maintains stock control and chemical preparation and control
- Study preparation: Labelling of pots, cassette printing, slide printing
- Receipt of tissues and logging samples onto internal systems
- Preparation of samples and study data for archive
- Dispatch of samples /data
- Quality control of own work and performs general housekeeping and cleaning procedures to ensure the continued daily operation of the laboratory
- May undertake training in routine post-life laboratory techniques including general tissue processor duties
- Understand Standard Operating Procedures, Policies and Procedures, Study Protocols is essential
About You:

- You will be able to prioritise work in line with departmental needs and a flexible approach to work
Education:
- GCSE education level
- Understanding of Good Laboratory Practice
- Ability to work as a team and learn new techniques
- Ability to lift and do physical work
- Good with numbers and well organized
- Ability to follow instruction and pay attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to prioritise work in line with departmental needs and a flexible approach to work
- Understand the role of others and liaise, collaborate and demonstrate effective communication
- Is fully aware of Health and Safety requirements
Experience:
- No experience is required as full training will be provided.
