Support Services Team Lead

Burlington, NC

This is for a Support Services Team Lead position in Burlington, NC. This will be a first shift Monday-Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Job Summary:

Functions/acts as a work leader in the Support Services department to coordinate workflow in one or more of the following areas: Technical Services, Accessioning, Specimen Management and Referrals, data entry, results transmissions, customer services, switchboard, and administration. Responsible for reviewing and assigning work. Researches, troubleshoots, and follows-up on customer inquiries and problems. Troubleshoots and assists department employees in resolving problems. Performs administrative duties as assigned by Supervisor. Thorough knowledge of Customer Services procedures and operations. Other duties as assigned.

Functional Responsibilities

Assists with operations of the laboratory support functions in the department including but not limited to: pulling and sorting of problem forms, processing requests for additional testing, specimen receiving and delivery to testing departments.

Serves as a liaison between Testing, Quality Assurance, and Specimen Management.

Takes a visible leadership role and motivates staff.

Assists the Supervisor in the implementation of new processes and contributes to process redesign as appropriate.

Monitors quality in support operations, proficiency and staff competency.

Trains new employees. Assigns and reviews work of employees including scheduling and prioritizing.

Notifies Laboratory Supervisor and/or Laboratory Manager of issues beyond their scope to resolve.

Meets company attendance policy.

Ensures a professional work environment is maintained.

Acts in a professional manner to colleagues; pleasant, shares information relevant to work, no gossiping or disparaging remarks.

Cooperates fully and completely with all efforts to implement and enforce LabCorp's Corporate Integrity Program.

Sets a personal example of high ethical standards in performing his/her assigned duties.

Exhibits awareness of, and adheres to, LabCorp's compliance policies, which apply specifically to his/her assigned duties.

Skill Requirements

Speech clarity, utilization of fingers and hands, standing-remaining on one's feet in an upright position, sitting-remaining in the normal seated position, handling-seizing, holding, grasping. Additional job duty (as assigned): (Hazardous Chemical Waste Management) Proper identification of known hazardous material in the workplace. The knowledge of personal protection measures. The avoidance of accidents. The knowledge of hazardous waste characteristics, hazardous waste volume generation limits, accumulations limits, spill control measures, record keeping, proper handling and container management, labeling, container and storage inspection.

Possible exposure to infection from disease-bearing specimens; regularly exposed to the risk of blood-borne diseases; must comply with applicable safety procedures.

Far acuity-ability to see clearly at 20 feet or more; near acuity-ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less; depth perception-ability to judge distance and space relationships; able to pass a standardized color vision test, as required by tasks performed.

Computer literate, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and email.

Education and Experience: Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and 3+ years of applicable experience.
