About the Team:
The In Vitro Operations Team at Labcorp Discovery Oncology consists of scientists with vast experience across 3D cell culture, cell-based assays, molecular and biochemical analysis, flow cytometry, spatial imaging, and -omics capabilities. Working in close collaboration with the In Vivo Operations Team, they ensure seamless execution of client studies, while partnering with the Scientific Development Team to drive sales and marketing strategies. A core mission of the In Vitro Operations Team is to continually innovate, integrating cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to help our clients efficiently advance through the preclinical stages of their drug development research.
Post-Doc Project Summary:
• Develop advanced 3D models for drug discovery research including but not limited to microfluidic-based multicellular organoid-on-chip systems to support both tumor and normal tissue microenvironments, including vascularization and immune interactions.
• Develop and optimize in vitro tissue organoid culture systems, ensuring physiological relevance for efficacy, safety, and toxicology preclinical drug tests.
• Establish standardized protocols for patient-derived tumor organoid growth, characterization, and therapeutic response evaluation.
• Integrate screening techniques to assess drug efficacy, resistance mechanisms, and biomarker discovery.
• Implement high content imaging tools for monitoring disease progression and drug response.
• Attends in vitro department meetings and collaborates with colleagues conducting commercial preclinical oncology studies on behalf of clients.
• Develop training materials and conduct training of other scientists.
• Present at relevant professional conferences and seminars.
Education/Qualifications/Skills:
• Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Cancer Biology, Bioengineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years hands on experience with organoid culture, tissue engineering, and microfluidic device development.
• Expertise in new approach methods for drug safety testing, cell-based assays, high-content imaging, and bioinformatics.
• Demonstrated ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and lead independent projects.
• Experience in one or more of the following scientific areas is desired:
o Cancer Biology
o Biomedical Engineering
o Microfluidics and organoid-on-a-chip systems
o Pharmacology and Drug Discovery
o Computational Biology and AI
Pay Range: $80k-$85k annually (USD)
All job offers will be based on a candidate's skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
