Join our team in a fast-paced and physical work environment. As a Shipping & Receiving employee, you will be responsible for receiving, distributing, and sending shipments throughout the night. This role involves walking, standing, moving heavy carts, and lifting up to 40 pounds. Key duties include verifying incoming shipments, organizing them for timely delivery to various departments, and communicating shipment times and volumes to the lab. You will also coordinate with couriers to manage alterations in shipments due to weather or other unpredictable events. Additionally, you may be required to drive a vehicle to deliver or receive shipments from the airport as needed.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9pm-5:30am with rotating Saturdays.

Job Responsibilities:
- Receive, distribute, and send shipments: Handle shipments throughout the night, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
- Physical tasks: Engage in walking, standing, moving heavy carts, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
- Verification and organization: Verify incoming shipments and organize them for timely delivery to various departments.
- Communication: Communicate shipment times and volumes to the lab, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
- Coordination: Coordinate with couriers to manage alterations in shipments due to weather or other unpredictable events.
- Driving: Drive a vehicle to deliver or receive shipments from the airport as needed.
- Liaison duties: Act as a liaison between the lab, clients, and patients, facilitating smooth interactions.
- Customer communication: Communicate with customers in a respectful and professional manner.
- Specimen preparation: Prepare and triage specimens for analysis, ensuring proper handling.
- Identification and labeling: Accurately identify and label specimens to maintain integrity.
- Packing and shipping: Pack and ship specimens as necessary, adhering to protocols.
- Storage: Prepare and store excess specimen samples, ensuring proper storage conditions.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Prior medical/clinical laboratory or warehouse experience is preferred
- Familiarity with laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures is preferred
- Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
- Comfortable handling biological specimens
- Ability to accurately identify specimens
- Experience working in a team environment
- Strong data entry and organizational skills
- High level of attention to detail
- Proficient in MS Office
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
- Ability to pass a standardized color blind test
