RESPONSIBILITIES
ISSUES MANAGEMENT AND CORPORATE REPUTATION
- Support broader company corporate reputation strategy, including identifying areas to position Kohl's as a leader in corporate citizenship.
- Cultivate strong relationships with key business partners across the organization, including field leadership, loss prevention, human resources, legal, customer service, social media, DEI and sustainability, and other key internal partners in various situations.

MEDIA RELATIONS
- Support financial communications by developing strategic PR plans that support Kohl's overarching business goals and initiatives related to quarterly earnings. Lead external agency support in tracking, reporting and competitor analysis.
- Proactively manage press coverage by managing issues and incidents quickly and comprehensively.
- Vet media inquiries around sensitive issues and provide clear, concise recommendations with rationale, considering Kohl's business strategy, the current news cycle and the external story angle.
- Draft media-holding statements as needed to provide brief and fact-based responses. Bring forward all media opportunities without exception.
- Support broader PR team in ongoing media monitoring and reporting.
- Create and communicate project timelines and meet key milestones and deadlines, moving with speed and agility to kick off, progress and complete projects.
- Deliver informed first drafts of written materials. Conduct research and work with partners to address questions and gather information to inform materials.
- Track and recap results, as appropriate, to demonstrate the value and importance of corporate reputation.
- Demonstrate consistent proficiency in communications and team processes and procedures, including but not limited to creating communication materials (talking points, holding statements, etc.), corporate site updates, media audits, media inquiries, field incidents, media monitoring, and tracking measurable results.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
- Minimum of 6-8 years experience in public relations, journalism, communications or public affairs, emphasizing crisis communications or issues management experience.
- Highly collaborative and builds relationships outside and within the organization
- Outstanding organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to manage several programs and partnerships simultaneously.
- Significant experience and expertise in project management and an ability to multitask without sacrificing detail.
- Superior writing skills and expert in AP writing guidelines. Articulate speaker and presenter.
- Must demonstrate some level of strategy development above and beyond tactical execution.
PREFERRED
- Proven experience and success in managing PR for corporate business initiatives
- Large corporate company experience preferred
- Retail experience preferred
