The Dev Services Team:
The Dev Services team plays a crucial role in delivering professional service components that will extend the functionality of our platform and APIs, integrate new functionally for back end workflows, and find innovative ways to implement existing features. The team is built up of multidisciplinary individuals comprising of Frontend, Backend, Native App, and Infrastructure Engineers, and occupies a unique role as being the only engineering team that is a part of the Sales, Services and Marketing organization at JW Player.

The Opportunity:
As the L2 Engineer, you will play a key role in the team's success. You will be tasked with the responsibility for implementing our Platform APIs for new and innovative workflow creation. The L2 Engineer will be a utilizing their backend technical skills and expertise to contribute to the professional services deliverables. You will also have the opportunity to mentor and act as a teaching resources to our Support Engineers and Solutions Engineers.
As a L2 Engineer, you will:
- Engage and partner with our customers to understand their requirements and deliver new solutions to meet their needs.
- Create clean and reusable code with the latest backend technologies
- Primary backend languages used at JW Player are Python and PHP
- Improve performance, stability and user experience of the JW Player Platform and APIs for our customers
- Collaborate closely with individuals from Engineering, Product, Support, and Account Management teams to:
- Identify new needs
- Productize professional services development
- Support sales retention objectives
- Experience with backend web development using Python and/or PHP
- Familiarity with RDBMS like MySQL and PostgreSQL
- Comfortable writing code that interacts safely with a range of APIs Experience developing and deploying applications
- Attention to detail implementing and documenting your designs
- Degree in Computer Science, General Assembly or Flatiron course graduate, or equivalent experience
- Portfolio, Github Profile, Node.JS, Java
- DASH, HLS and/or other streaming technologies
- Javascript, CSS and HTML
- Experience with testing tools like pytest
- Familiarity with Docker
- Knowledge with 3rd party advertising and analytics frameworks and SDKs
- Understanding of best practices, frameworks, and OOP
- 20-30 minute high level conversation with a Recruiter
- 30-45 minute conversation with the Hiring Manager
- Online assessment through CodeSignal
- 2-4 hours interview where you will meet various team members across the organization
- 1-2 hours interview where you will speak with Senior Managers

According to New York City local Council laws, local New York City applicants residing in and performing this role in New York City will receive an annual salary dependent on experience between $70,000.00 - $100,000.00. In addition, applicants qualify for the benefits listed above.
The salary band is not applicable to applicants outside of New York City. Applicants located outside of the New York City area will have an adjusted rate equitable and competitive to their residing and surrounding area.
