As a Lead Site Reliability Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within Commercial and Investment Bank, Digital Platform & Services SRE team, focused on ensuring the reliability and availability of Java-based applications and systems within a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team. You will be accountable to design and implement scalable solutions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and drive innovation. Also be responsible for guiding the team in setting appropriate Service Level Objectives (SLOs), leveraging distributed tracing, developing effective dashboards, and regularly reviewing key site technical metrics. Take lead and conduct resiliency design reviews, break up complex problems into digestible work for other engineers, act as a technical lead for medium to large-sized products, and provide advice and mentoring to other engineers..

Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates and champions site reliability culture and practices and exerts technical influence throughout your team
  • Leads initiatives to improve the reliability and stability of your team's applications and platforms using data-driven analytics to improve service levels
  • Collaborates with team members to identify comprehensive service level indicators and stakeholders to establish reasonable service level objectives and error budgets with customers
  • Demonstrates a high level of technical expertise within one or more technical domains and proactively identifies and solves technology-related bottlenecks in your areas of expertise
  • Acts as the main point of contact from SRE team during major incidents for your application and demonstrates the skills to identify and solve issues quickly.
  • Actively participate in an L3 activities by partnering with Production Management to support the DPS applications systems in terms of Availability, Stability and Performance. Acts as the final line of defense against complex technical issues, ensuring that critical systems and services remain operational and reliable.
  • Execute software solutions, including design, development, and technical troubleshooting, with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or resolve technical problems.
  • Proactively identify hidden problems and patterns in data, using these insights to drive improvements in coding hygiene and system architecture.
  • Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications, ensuring design constraints are met by software code development.
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate the remediation of recurring issues to enhance the overall operational stability of software applications and systems.
  • Engage with key stakeholders, understanding and aligning with business objectives.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts with 7+ years applied experience
  • Proficient in coding in Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, Rest API, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular JS/React JS and jQuery.
  • Experience in container and container orchestration (e.g., ECS, Kubernetes, Docker, etc.)
  • Experience in SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience in L3 (Level 3) activities as Deep-Dive Troubleshooting, Code-Level Debugging, System Architecture Review.
  • Proficiency and experience in observability such as white and black box monitoring, SLO alerting, and telemetry collection using tools such as Grafana, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Datadog, Splunk, etc.
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
  • Tools used in Software Development(Jira, Git, Confluence , SourceTree , maven , Bitbucket, idea (IntelliJ) etc.)

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • AWS Certifications
  • Exposure in Infra Engineering and Network Engineering
  • Experience in banking or financial domain
