As a Principal Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the AI/ML Data Platforms business, you provide expertise and engineering excellence as an integral part of an agile team to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. Leverage your advanced technical capabilities and collaborate with colleagues across the organization to drive best-in-class outcomes across various technologies to support one or more of the firm's portfolios.
Job responsibilities
- Creates complex and scalable coding frameworks using appropriate software design frameworks
- Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
- Advises cross-functional teams on technological matters within your domain of expertise
- Serves as the function's go-to subject matter expert
- Contributes to the development of technical methods in specialized fields in line with the latest product development methodologies
- Creates durable, reusable software frameworks that are leveraged across teams and functions
- Influences leaders and senior stakeholders across business, product, and technology teams
- Champions the firm's culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
- Develops and writes software applications for AI/ML platforms and building Generative AI based applications including Agents
- Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
- Proactively identifies opportunities to streamline, eliminate, or automate the remediation of recurring issues and developer challenges, enhancing the operational efficiency and excellence of software applications and systems.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and applied experience
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Practical experience in Infrastructure as Code development, ideally using Terraform.
- Expert in one or more programming language(s) with a strong focus on Python and Java
- Advanced knowledge of software application development and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
- Experience applying expertise and new methods to determine solutions for complex technology problems in one or more technical disciplines
- Ability to present and effectively communicate with Senior Leaders and Executives
- Experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
- Expertise in automation and continuous integration, delivery, and testing (CI/CD/CT) methods.
- Comprehensive understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Model Development Life Cycle (MDLC)
- Deep understanding of agile methodologies and basic proficiency in architectural frameworks.
- Demonstrated proficiency in platform development and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.).
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Hands-on experience in UX design and UI development using modern frameworks such as React.
- Proficient in utilizing AI tools to enhance productivity and efficiency in daily tasks.
- Familiarity with architecture design frameworks and tooling standards, including TOGAF.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with a strong ability to identify issues and challenge the status quo.
- Demonstrates initiative in learning and adapting to new technologies and methodologies.
- Proven problem-solving skills with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
