Data Scientist Lead

Job Summary:
The Data Science Manager is responsible for managing effective engagement in initiatives requiring advanced analytical solutions. This role involves hands-on analytics and modeling using tools such as R, Python, Tableau, Alteryx, and SQL. The manager is accountable for the business impact and robustness of solutions delivered, including analyses, procedures, models, and test designs. Acting as a primary contact with senior managers in several business functional areas, the manager probes for unidentified business needs and explores opportunities for the team to develop data-based approaches. The role also involves managing and mentoring other analysts and being a thought leader in data science across the organization.
Job Responsibilities:
- Run workstreams, own initiatives end-to-end, and manage stakeholder requirements in a matrix environment.
- Prioritize and manage resources effectively, communicating findings, issues, and proposed solutions to business executives.
- Engage diverse groups of colleagues and clients.
- Stay abreast of trends and best practices, incorporating them into approaches.
- Identify process improvements and efficiency enhancements.
- Appreciate operational complexities and how they may translate into risk on a given project.
- Lead problem-solving efforts, coaching and facilitating others to solve problems.
- Serve as a confident and trusted advisor to clients.
- Produce clear and succinct written and verbal communications, framing messages for different audiences.
- Use knowledge of current industry developments to recommend enhancements to client service.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- Generally 6+ years of experience in data science or related fields.
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or related field.
- Intermediate knowledge of AI/ML packages and statistical tools, including Python, SQL, and R.
- Knowledge of data mining and visualization tools like SQL, Tableau, and Alteryx.
- Subject Matter Expert in statistical techniques, predictive modeling, time series forecasting, and text mining.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts into digestible information for audiences of varying levels in the organization.
- Ability to transform information derived from data into actionable insights related to the organization's key strategic objectives.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- Master's or PhD in a related field, or Bachelor's with 5+ years' experience in a related discipline.
- External client exposure and skills.
- Strong storytelling capabilities.
