As a Wholesale Credit Risk Manager in Business Banking, you will lead a team of Divisional Credit Officers who: decision new credit requests, renew existing credit lines, complete annual reviews of larger credit exposures and maintain relationships with key functional collaborators (Sales, Operations, Legal, Compliance and other Risk leaders). You appropriately assess the risk in the portfolio, ensuring that the team decisions new credit transactions according to requirements and diligently manages the existing credit portfolio, meeting customer expectations and established goals. The incumbent will also have direct accountability for Credit Officer quality and regulatory compliance. As part of the management team, you will be expected to identify opportunities to improve controls and efficiencies as well as lead change through identified projects. Together, we will support the growth of the Business Banking portfolio while upholding prudent credit judgment and risk practices

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead as the primary credit analysis contact for the Business Banking divisional leadership team, negotiating terms, informing, and consulting on strategic initiatives.
  • Manage teams of Credit Officers in Columbus and India, analyzing and deciding credit requests of varying complexity while maintaining high quality standards and adhering to credit policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Implement the firm's risk appetite across various industries and geographies, ensuring appropriate Risk Grading and Loss Given Default assignments to all credits.
  • Develop the team and oversee workflow processes to manage new and renewed deal flow and other portfolio management-related activities.
  • Perform reviews of process activities to ensure compliance with control measures and identify areas for improvement.
  • Assume ownership of portfolio quality, acting with a sense of urgency during reviews and exams.
  • Partner with other functions to deliver continuous improvements for efficiency, controls, and consistency.
  • Collaborate with the Risk Modeling team to prepare model documentation, provide credible challenge, and implement usage.
  • Provide input into deep dives, prepare and deliver presentations for various senior Risk forums and field leadership calls.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 10 years of Business or Commercial Credit experience, with an in-depth knowledge of credit risk assessment and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven leadership capacities and executive presence, with demonstrated success in managing multi-site teams and the ability to credibly challenge others on complex ideas succinctly.
  • Strong track record of collaboration with stakeholders and colleagues at all levels, adept at navigating a highly matrixed organization.
  • Proactive self-starter with a demonstrated ability to manage and deliver time sensitive, complex initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to negotiate, influence, and demonstrate diplomacy in sensitive situations and to interact effectively with senior management
  • Retain, develop, and recruit high-performing talent.
