Job Description

As a Staff level Interaction Designer you will be responsible for leading certain aspects of Interaction Design for Intuitive’s da Vinci Surgical System. Working in close collaboration with cross-functional teams, you will continually push to execute consistent and high-quality user experiences for Intuitive’s Multiport product line. The Multiport Interaction Design team’s primary focus is to ensure that Intuitive products are Useful, Usable and Desirable. This includes development of user interfaces from early product definition and development phases through product launch, as well as participating in the validation of product usability through informal and formal testing with representative users.  

You are a flexible and dynamic professional who strives for innovative and elegant solutions in all endeavors. The ideal candidate is passionate about intentional aesthetics and the critical role design plays in intersecting the needs of the user with business goals and product continuity. This candidate should have experience designing end-to-end experiences for a wide range of products and services.

You are a highly collaborative individual and believe that design is a team endeavor. You enjoy helping your team and mentoring junior designers. Participating in design reviews/critiques and planning is just part of your day.

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement product designs that enhance surgeon and OR staff capabilities through unprecedented simplicity, utility, and ease of use 
  • Define, document, and execute designs for software and hardware
  • Provide both high-level and detail-focused specifications for designs to facilitate communication with project stakeholders and engineering teams alike 
  • Follow product and deliverable timelines working with cross-functional teams to prioritize project work accordingly 
  • Partner with the broader Interaction Design team to drive consistency across Intuitive’s product ecosystem 

Qualifications

Skills/Job Requirements:  

  • 10+ years of experience in product design roles – experience beyond traditional web and native app UI is preferred 
  • Ability to research and understand the needs of the user as well as the business and translate those into Product Design goals and execution
  • Ability to synthesize nuanced interactions between hardware and software into essential experiences
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills when sharing design process with cross-functional teams 
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge of Adobe CC, Figma, and other industry standard tools
  • Ability to visualize and bring concepts to life through prototypes at all levels of fidelity
  • Experience working with emerging technologies including 3D/AR/VR is preferred with an emphasis on communicating spatial interactions

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The target salary ranges are listed.
