Job Description

The Compiler team within the Software and Advanced Technology Group at Intel, has an opportunity available for a Compiler Engineer. This is a great opportunity to on work on cutting-edge technologies to design, develop, debug, test compiler software and programming languages. You will be working on code generation support for new Intel architecture hardware, performance analysis, and compiler optimizations As an engineer in this role, you will have an opportunity to work and collaborate with hardware engineering teams, external partners and be a member of communities developing compilers. Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

1. Design and development of LLVM CodeGen component

2. Support new ISA instructions for future Intel CPUs and upstream to LLVM open source community

3. Development of test cases for implemented new features in codegen.

4. Debug and triaging various kinds of codegen/target backend issues
5. Work with other compiler engineers and architects across different geographies.
6. Work on other compiler technologies
7. Design, develop, debug and test compiler software and advanced compiler optimizations and features specific for Intel Architectures
8. Work directly with companies and communities developing compilers

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position.

Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's with 3+ years of experience in compiler development, a Master's with 2+ years of experience in compiler development, Degree Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computational Sciences or related technical discipline

2. Experience in C/C++, object-oriented programming, data structures, and/or compiler theory

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience working on compiler development such as Clang, LLVM, Fortran, GCC or similar tools.

2. Experience with performance analysis and optimization

3. Knowledge of x86 instruction set architecture and Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) , AMX, APX 4. System software development experience (operating systems, software development tools, etc.)

4. Experience in supporting new ISA instructions for CPUs,

5. Familiarity with CPU architectures such as RISC-V, x86_64, Arm Architecture (AArch32, AArch64)

6. Meaningful contributions to free software and open-source compiler communities

7.Substantial contributions to upstream LLVM Codegen

8.A track record of working with industry standard compiler infrastructure such as LLVM and / or GNU Toolchain

9. Good knowledge of target backend and code generation modules.

10. Strong hands-on C++ programming skills. 3+ years of experience with compiler development.

Working Model

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
