Join our evolving finance team as a Tax & Technical Accounting Manager, influencing our corporate tax strategy and spearheading the development of a critical accounting function to make an impact on a growing company. You will be the driving force behind financial excellence, fueled by your self-starting attitude and passion for creating impactful solutions. The Tax and Technical Accounting Manager will provide technical coordination for the timely and accurate preparation of corporate taxes for the organization as well as leadership for technical accounting interpretations and adoption projects. This role will have the opportunity to shape and refine the structure of these critical accounting functions in a rapidly evolving finance organization.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Tax Planning, Preparation, and Analysis:
  • Prepares and reviews tax calculations, returns, and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures accurate, timely filing of consolidated federal, state, and local income tax returns and other business-related filings.
  • Develops strategic tax planning process and implements cadence for thorough analysis of tax implications related to business operations, transactions, and investments to identify opportunities for tax optimization and risk mitigation.
  • Reviews, organizes, logs, and responds to all incoming tax communications and notices. Delegates tax requests to appropriate team members or external advisors where necessary.
  • Researches and interprets complex tax regulations and legislation to stay abreast of changes that may impact the company's tax position and strategy.
  • Serves as primary contact in the Accounting department for internal departments, external tax consultants, and third- party vendors.
  • Responds to IRS and state taxing authority inquiries, as necessary.
  • Performs analysis and impacts in financial planning and analysis process.

Technical Accounting:
  • Coordinates accounting adoption projects based on evolving accounting regulations with recent examples of adoptions including lease accounting and CECL.
  • Takes lead for technical accounting research pertaining to new business initiatives, contracts and/or transactions and presents pro-forma impacts to relevant parties including senior leadership.
  • Identifies, researches, advises, and concludes on technical accounting issues, including new accounting standards. Provide recommendations and assess the impact to the Company's financial statements.
  • Displays high proficiency at tax and accounting research techniques.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This role does not currently have supervisory responsibilities but will be expected to provide direction and coaching to staff members to meet objectives.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university required in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in public and/or private Accounting.
  • Experience with corporate financial statement preparation, disclosures, and analysis.
  • Insurance statutory background a plus.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Current CPA license or in progress strongly preferred.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Strong knowledge of corporate tax laws, regulations, and accounting principles, with a focus on U.S. federal and state tax issues.
  • Thorough knowledge of computer applications related to accounting and financial management systems.
  • Must be able to manage multiple accounting operations areas simultaneously.
  • Broad, in-depth understanding of Accounting principles, concepts, operations, and practices of the business unit.
  • Highly developed written oral and presentation skills, and ability to effectively interact with management, employees, regulators, and external auditors.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft suite applications.
  • Self-motivated, strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Adaptable to shifting workloads and building a positive working relationship within the department and across company.
  • Ability to work on concurrent assignments. Excellent organization and project management skills.

COMPENSATION

The current salary range for this position is $114,046.39 to $192,331.41. This range is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. If hired at ICW Group, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors unique to each candidate; including experience, education, and location of the role and considers employees performing substantially similar work.
