In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

Your role and responsibilities

The RTR Operations Manager oversees the end-to-end Record-to-Report processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting while maintaining compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements. This role involves managing a variety of processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, fixed assets, general accounting, project accounting, and treasury operations. The RTR Operations Manager is also responsible for driving process improvements, leveraging technology, and ensuring a strong internal control environment.

Key Responsibilities:
1. RTR Strategy and Operational Excellence:
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize RTR processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
• Align RTR strategies with broader business objectives, supporting growth and scalability.
2. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, promoting RTR team visibility and credibility.
• Collaborate with relevant departments to align RTR strategies, streamline operations, and maximize working capital.
3. Risk Management and Compliance:
• Identify and mitigate potential risks within RTR operations, ensuring business continuity and minimizing financial exposure.
• Ensure the team remains compliant with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
4. Change Management:
• Lead RTR process changes, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption to operations.
• Drive the adoption of new technologies, tools, or methodologies to enhance RTR capabilities.
5. Budgeting and Resource Allocation:
• Develop and manage RTR budgets, ensuring financial accountability and accuracy in forecasting.
• Optimize resource allocation within the RTR department to maximize efficiency and productivity.
6. SLA Management and Performance Monitoring:
• Establish, monitor, and enforce RTR-related SLAs, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of services.
• Regularly review and analyze SLA performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.

Per Process:

1. Journal Entries and Adjustments:
• Oversee the preparation, review, and approval of manual and automated journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards (e.g., accruals, reclassifications, and adjustments).
• Develop and implement standardized templates and processes to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
• Ensure appropriate documentation and audit trails for all journal entries.

2. Account Reconciliations:
• Supervise the preparation and review of balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies.
• Implement a robust reconciliation framework to improve the accuracy of financial reporting.

3. Fixed Assets Management:
• Oversee the end-to-end fixed asset accounting process, including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation.
• Ensure proper recording and tracking of capital expenditures in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
• Collaborate with procurement and operations teams to manage physical asset verification and reporting.
4. General Accounting:
• Manage general ledger activities, ensuring timely and accurate postings and alignment with the chart of accounts.
• Oversee intercompany transactions and reconciliations, ensuring proper eliminations during consolidation.
• Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS), and local regulatory requirements.
5. Project Accounting:
• Lead the accounting for project-related financial activities, including cost tracking, revenue recognition, and allocation.
• Partner with project managers to ensure accurate reporting of project budgets, forecasts, and variances.
• Ensure proper classification of costs (e.g., capital vs. expense) and compliance with project accounting standards.
6. Treasury Operations:
• Manage treasury-related accounting, including cash flow reporting, bank reconciliations, and foreign exchange transactions.
• Ensure accurate recording of treasury activities, such as loans, investments, and interest calculations.
• Support liquidity planning and cash management processes in collaboration with the treasury team.
7. Compliance and Governance:
• Ensure adherence to internal controls, corporate policies, and external regulations in all RTR processes.
• Support audits by providing required documentation and resolving audit queries in a timely manner.
• Continuously monitor and update processes to address changes in accounting standards or regulatory requirements.

Process Improvements:
Process Optimization and Automation:
• Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, reduce cycle times, and increase automation.
• Leverage ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and financial tools to streamline workflows and improve data integrity. Drive standardization and harmonization of RTR processes across regions or business units.

Reporting:
Reporting and Analysis:
• Prepare financial statements and management reports, providing actionable insights to support business decisions.
• Develop dashboards and KPIs to track RTR performance, highlighting trends and areas for improvement.
• Provide variance analysis and explanations for management review.

Leadership:
Team Leadership and Development:
• Manage, mentor, and develop the RTR team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Assign tasks, set goals, and ensure the team adheres to timelines and quality standards.
• Provide training on new tools, processes, and accounting standards to enhance team capabilities.

Qualification and Skills:

1. Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification preferred).
2. Experience: 7+ years in RTR operations, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
3. Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and financial reporting tools.
4. Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS) and regulatory requirements.
5. Advanced knowledge of Excel, automation tools, and data analytics.
6. Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
