Key Responsibilities of a Partner Technical Specialist:

  • Building Relationships: Establish and maintain strong relationships with IBM partners.
  • Shaping Technical Strategy: Participate in technical discussions and help partners define their technical strategies, incorporating IBM's offerings.
  • Demonstrating IBM Value: Use IBM tools and resources to help partners showcase the benefits of IBM technology to their clients.
  • Providing Technical Expertise: Offer technical advice and solutions to partners, sales teams, and clients.
  • Driving Pipeline and Deals: Collaborate with partners to identify opportunities, support deals, and drive pipeline growth.
  • Enabling Partner Success: Increase partners' technical capabilities by enabling their sales and technical teams to effectively demonstrate IBM technology
  • Managing Accounts and Opportunities: Manage multiple accounts and opportunities simultaneously.
  • Developing and Executing Territory Plans: Identify strategic growth areas, set revenue objectives, and measure successful delivery of territory plans.

Your role and responsibilities

A Partner Technical Specialist (PTS) at IBM is a techical sales role focused on helping IBM partners successfully sell and deliver IBM technology. They act as trusted advisors to partners, driving them to incorporate IBM solutions into their offerings. PTS work to build relationships, shape technical strategies, and demonstrate the value of IBM technology to partners and their clients.

Required education

Associate's Degree/College Diploma

Preferred education

Bachelor's Degree

Required technical and professional expertise

  • Deep Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of IBM technology and solutions, with a focus on a specific area of expertise (ex. Automation, Storage, Data & AI).
  • Communication and Relationship Skills: Strong communication and relationship development skills to build trust and influence stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving and Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze business and technical challenges and develop solutions.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of the market and competitive landscape.
  • Experience in Pre-sales or Sales Engineering: Experience in a technical sales role is required
  • Project Management and Leadership Skills: Ability to lead and manage complex technical projects
  • Availability to travel: Travel may be required (up to 40% or 20% 1 or 2 days a week) depending on the specific role and location.
  • Fluent English
  • Strong Comunication
