Introduction

IBM Blue Studio is responsible for the sophistication, strategic evolution, and expression of the IBM brand and sub-brands across every experience and encounter, internally and externally. We represent and support all IBM businesses horizontally and vertically. Our work crosses nearly every category of output: research and strategy, communications and content development, symbology and systems, digital and physical experiences, tools, and training. We aim to maintain the modernity, tangibility, and understanding of the IBM brand worldwide.

Your role and responsibilities

IBM seeks a seasoned creative leader with a passion for environmental design and architecture to join our team. As an Associate Creative Director, you will be responsible for guiding projects within the Events and Environments design team in creating immersive and engaging experiences that reflect IBM's brand values and mission. Your expertise in 3D rendering and spatial design will be essential in driving the development of cutting-edge environments that inspire collaboration, innovation, and productivity.

ACD's serve as creative leaders for IBM. As part of the Studio, the ACD will develop and execute innovative creative concepts. With a clear passion and expertise in art direction, this individual will inspire others through their creativity, strategic thinking, and work ethic. Working with senior leadership and colleagues, ACD's will be tasked with owning the day-to-day responsibilities from the conceptual stage through execution.

  • Develop comprehensive design strategies for IBM environments, workplaces, and events worldwide-including design concepts, spatial planning, and environmental graphics.
  • Collaborate with designers, project managers, and Creative Directors to ensure seamless execution of projects from concept to completion.
  • Create innovative concepts that are directly tied back to the creative brief.
  • Be comfortable presenting ideas and projects to teammates.
  • Actively concept and present proactive ideas.
  • Be open to feedback.
  • Hungry to make good work that pushes the brand forward.
  • Be a clear communicator and an excellent collaborator.
  • Ensure creative ideas are clearly aligned to hit the brief and the brand's objectives.
  • Generate new ideas, while keeping an eye on establishing and maintaining standards. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including IBM's real estate, facilities, and marketing teams.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in environmental design, architecture, and 3D rendering-applying this knowledge to drive innovation and excellence in our work
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and resources to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality results
  • Challenge assumptions and conventional wisdom to drive design innovation and excellence.
  • Inspire and motivate the team to think creatively and push the boundaries of design.
  • Possess a deep understanding of experiential strategy and its application in spatial design, including the creation of immersive and engaging experiences that bring brands to life.

Required technical and professional expertise

  • Strong conceptual and strategic thinking.
  • Deep knowledge of digital trends, social platforms, innovation and technology.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 8+ years of experience in environmental graphic design, architecture, or a related field, with a focus on branding and spatial design.
  • Proven track record of leading high-performing teams and guiding complex projects from concept to completion.
  • Expertise in 3D, rendering and spatial design. Proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and tools such as SketchUp, Revit, Rhino, etc are encouraged.
  • Strong understanding of branding principles, with experience in developing and implementing brand guidelines.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Portfolio that showcases your expertise in environmental design, architecture, and 3D rendering.

Preferred technical and professional experience

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a proven ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of IBM's brand and values, with experience working on large-scale branding projects.
  • Certification in architecture, interior design, or a related field.
