Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior COBOL Developer to join our team who works for a major bank in Europe . You will play a key role in maintaining, enhancing, and modernizing our client's mission-critical mainframe applications. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a deep understanding of COBOL and mainframe environments, who is also comfortable mentoring junior developers and collaborating on large-scale enterprise projects.
In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

Your role and responsibilities
Development and maintenance of software applications according to the business needs being involved in all phases of the project, based on Agile or waterfall methodology.
• Drawing up analysis, tests and detailing the changes / developments given to the application
• Troubleshooting bugs detected in system operation
• Ensuring the necessary data transfer between applications
• Analyzing system and creating applications for system quality development
• Ensure the good functioning of the application
• Implementing new features
• Resolve incidents, analyze problems, and implement small request for change by following the development phases (coding, unit test) in consistency with the assets
• Provide quality users assistance
• Answer to different service requests (reporting, recurrent tasks)
• Meet the objectives related to its application (availability time, incidents time resolution...)
• Ensure the necessary data transfer between applications
• Update documents after each change
• Propose and implement actions to simplify applications, optimize processes and automate tasks
• Follow and enforce norms and standards, security rules
Required education
Bachelor's Degree
Preferred education
Technical Diploma
Required technical and professional expertise
• Graduate of technical profile faculty
• Experience in COBOL programming (minimum 3 years)
• Experience with Mainframe, JCL, DB2
• Experience in proposing / designing technical solutions
• Experience in creating technical specifications
• Mandatory English, but willing to develop the French skills
Preferred technical and professional experience
• Experience in drafting / implementing the test plan
• Experience in application support
• Synthesis Capacity, Customer Orientation, Initiative Capacity
