The Research & Development team at Hudson River Trading (HRT) builds and maintains the computers, networks, data storage, operating systems, and software that allows our trading strategies to run worldwide 24/7. We are looking for an experienced technical data center project manager to oversee all aspects of technical projects within our R&D data center, from initial planning to execution. This role involves managing resources, budgets, timelines, and stakeholders to ensure projects are completed accurately, efficiently and effectively. The individual must be a strong communicator with excellent people skills who can manage strategic and ad hoc projects simultaneously. This is a highly impactful role where you will contribute to one of the world’s most sophisticated research computing environments on a daily basis.
The ideal candidate is a senior multi-disciplinary data center project management specialist with a strong understanding of white-space room fit-out and server, storage and network environments. You will join an interdisciplinary team made up of several groups across Hudson River Trading’s Research and Development team, as well as external data center operators, colocation and smart hands service providers, and cabling, hardware, and telco vendors.

Responsibilities
- Develop project plans and timelines
- Orchestrate compute infrastructure buildouts (eg. server farm deployments)
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation and progress reports
- Monitor contractor performance, manage subcontractors, and ensure quality control
- Identify and mitigate potential project risks
- Oversee the testing, commissioning, and handover of the infrastructure
- Provide support for commissioning, integrated system testing, and facility operations
- Managing project budgets, ensuring projects stay within allocated financial resources
- Ensure the data center and computing equipment upholds the highest standards in terms of security, organization, documentation, safety, cleanliness, and supply management
- Identifying and resolving technical and operational issues that arise during project execution
- Motivating and guiding team members to achieve project goals
- Assigning resources effectively to ensure project timelines and objectives are met
- Oversee installation, maintenance, and upgrades of data center infrastructure
- Coordinate logistical tasks across locations, including procurement, shipping, moving, and keeping inventory of our equipment
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience working in and around Data Center environments
- Strong organization & communication skills
- Ability to balance multiple competing priorities and context switch between projects
- Knowledgeable in networking fundamentals is a plus
- Skilled in adjusting project scope, timelines, or resources effectively
- Proven experience building relationships with vendors, service providers, and internal teams
- Self-starter; team player; motivated to work independently and improve processes where possible
- Eager to learn and apply new skills quickly
- Willing to travel within the Domestic US and Internationally
- Willing to work occasional evening hours and weekends
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology is a plus
- Fluency in English is required; ability to speak other languages is a plus
Annual base salary range of $150,000 to $225,000. Pay (base and bonus) may vary depending on job-related skills and experience. A sign-on and discretionary performance bonus may be provided as part of the total compensation package, in addition to company-paid medical and/or other benefits.
