About the Role

The Senior Accountant, Operating Accounting is responsible for applying General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to reviewing and approving capital asset additions, disposals, adjustments, depreciation, and allocations. The Senior Accountant, Operating Accounting position will also be responsible for property accounting and preparing monthly and quarterly financial reports by compiling information, preparing and analyzing profit and loss statements, and utilizing appropriate accounting control procedures.

What You Will Do
  • Perform month-end close process, including preparation of account reconciliations, journal entries, account analysis and monthly financial statement review for property portfolio.
  • Review and approve accounts payable invoices.
  • Review accounts receivable for collectability.
  • Perform monthly/quarterly financial variance analysis and lender requirements.
  • Participate in monthly meetings to review financial statements with property management.
  • Review and approve lease abstracts, analysis of new leases and lease amendments.
  • Review annual tenant expense recovery reconciliations and assist with tenant expense recovery audits as needed.
  • Prepare and review monthly straight line rent calculations in accordance with ASC 842.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors for quarterly reviews and year-end audit.
  • Assist property management with accounting related inquiries.
  • Special projects and other duties as needed.

About You
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • CPA a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting. Preference given to public accounting audit experience and /or real estate industry experience.
  • Solid understanding of accounting processes.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze detailed financial statements and information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong technical writing skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Must be deadline focused, organized and exhibit problem solving skills.
  • Interact effectively as part of a team and build positive relationships with employees at all levels within the organization.
  • Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic setting with competing priorities.
  • Exercise sound judgment when making decisions.
  • Able to meet deadlines, as necessary.
  • "Can-do" attitude, pro-active and resourceful.
  • Experience with J.D. Edwards, Argus, and/or Hubble a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word.
