The global sustainability team consists of well-rounded specialized leaders, directed by our Global Head of Sustainability, who is a member of the Management Team of Hitachi Energy. Our diverse international team welcomes individuality and open dialogue, and fosters a strong entrepreneurial focus, values and integrity.

We are working closely with our Executive Management, BUs, Regions and Functional Area sustainability teams, HSE managers, product managers, R&D, marketing and communication managers, as well as other stakeholders, in order to drive and implement our company's sustainability agenda.

We share a common vision for our company, outlined in our Sustainability Strategy 2030, and work towards it with high energy, passion and commitment for the topic.

The Sustainability Performance Manager reports to the Global Sustainability Reporting Manager and will be responsible for leading the strategic oversight and continuous improvement of sustainability performance across Hitachi Energy. This role translates complex ESG data into actionable insights, aligns performance with global frameworks and legislative requirements, and drives cross-functional collaboration to meet the company's sustainability goals.
How you will make an impact:

  • Develop and implement performance management frameworks aligned with Sustainability 2030 Strategy and ESG targets.
  • Monitor and evaluate sustainability KPIs across business units, identifying trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement, perform external benchmarking comparisons.
  • Support the Sustainability Leadership Team with the integration of sustainability performance into business planning and decision-making processes.
  • Oversee ESG data collection related to performance measurement, in alignment with reporting frameworks followed by Hitachi Energy such as GRI, CDP, EcoVadis, and EU regulations (CSRD, Taxonomy, ESRS).
  • Ensure data quality and consistency across global operations, applying advanced analytics and dashboard-like visualization tools for external and internal reporting and monitoring.
  • Coordinate internal and external disclosures, including alignment with Hitachi performance frameworks.
  • Lead efforts to obtain 3party independent certification for externally disclosed performance metrics and provide expert support as required during internal and external site audits related to sustainability data and performance.
  • Lead efforts to strengthen data verification processes and controls to enable the transition from limited to reasonable assurance in ESG data reporting.
  • Actively contribute to the development and implementation of Hitachi Energy's "common data strategy" by aligning sustainability performance data systems and governance with enterprise-wide standards.
  • Collaborate with digital, IT, and data governance teams to ensure sustainability data is integrated, accessible, and secure.
  • Act as a key liaison between sustainability, finance, operations, and technology teams to align performance initiatives.
  • Support leadership with strategic insights and recommendations based on performance analysis.
  • Contribute to initiatives to enhance sustainability data systems, automation, and digital tools.
  • Promote a culture of accountability and innovation in sustainability performance.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, standards, and technologies in ESG performance management.

Job alert subscription
  • Advanced degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business Analytics, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in ESG performance, sustainability reporting, or corporate strategy.
  • Proven expertise in ESG frameworks and regulatory landscapes.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in data analytics platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and sustainability software or ability to coordinate with IT department for execution.
  • High proficiency in English, both written and spoken; any additional languages are considered an advantage.
