You will lead the execution of large and complex projects for the Microgrid, Grid Edge and Grid Automation unit and ensures that all related activities are performed in accordance with Hitachi Energy policies, contractual agreements, quality standards, health, safety & environment requirements, financial targets, as well as schedule commitments.

The role will coordinate and oversee activities related to complex project execution from pre-sales to after-market service and interface with product management and engineering to position the unit for the current and future success. You will support the Local HUB and Business Managers in overseeing team development and process improvement to continually increase the effectiveness of project execution.

Your responsibilities:

  • You will Lead the large projects team, establishes the project execution approach, and oversees project hand-over, execution planning, monitor and control activities for both internal and external resources to accomplish all project goals and coach and provide performance feedback for project staff. You will ensure projects follow execution best practices and company policies.
  • You will effectively monitor and control project progress and efficient resource utilization, project financials, overseeing project invoicing status, cost, expenses, and cash flow, tracking the achievement of financial target continuously. You will identify, qualify, quantify, manage project risks, and ensure that all opportunities are identified and pursued.
  • You will capture, analyze, and share lessons learned throughout the project, ensure that projects are formally closed out, as contractually agreed, drive the formal acceptance of the project and contract close-out and ensure that all planning activities (including scope and financial plans, schedules, and risk management plans) are performed properly by the assigned project team(s) and ensure that the project consistently applies contract and claims management, in accordance with company policies and contractual agreements.
  • You will ensure that required engineering & procurement activities for services, materials, and equipment for the project from external and internal suppliers are performed by the assigned resources, act as key contact for the customer and escalation point for project issues and build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicates with all stakeholders.
  • You will Lead project risk mitigation and recovery efforts, i.e., the rapid assessment of project issues, mitigation, and improvements, participate in the business planning and budgeting process, jointly with Management and Controllers.
  • You will participate in Sales and Operations Planning and take actions to close potential gaps in project execution capacity, ensure the project follows and complies with company health, safety, and environmental policies, contribute to the continuous improvement of policies and work instructions by adopting external "best practices" and findings from lessons learned.
  • You will lead project reviews for other large projects and Organizational Project Management (OPM) reviews/assessments and conducts competency assessments for the project execution teams on behalf of the Local Division, actively seek both internal improvement opportunities and external project management practice and influence the organization to continuously improve project execution, participates in and contribute to internal and external expert groups, e.g., project management councils and other forums.

Your background:

  • Bachelor's degree in project management qualifications, PMI or equivalent and/or or equivalent in Engineering - electrical/mechanical.
  • More than 10 years of experience in project execution.
  • Significant experience across Industry with construction, Utilities, Power Generation or Power Systems projects. Expert in Business and Project Management processes.
  • Awareness of power system technology.
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Office, Teams, Outlook, Project, SharePoint, SAP knowledge or experience, modelling, and control software, etc.
  • Expresses opinions, information, and key points of an argument clearly; Projects credibility.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and high attention to detail.
