Senior Compensation Analyst

Harlem Children's Zone (HCZ) - a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York - seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and mission-aligned Senior Compensation Analyst to join our team.

The Senior Compensation Analyst will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children's Zone: break the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.

HCZ is seeking a Senior Compensation Analyst who will take the opportunity to build and administer employee compensation programs in a growing and evolving organization. Successful candidates have experience administering various compensation programs for mid-size evolving organizations where strong project management capabilities are key. Major responsibilities include compensation program implementation and administration (e.g., base salary, annual and long-term incentives), job analysis, and actively supporting the mid-year and annual merit program. This role is located at the HCZ HQ offices in NYC. It is a hybrid schedule of 3 days in office.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Human Resources, Accounting, or related field
  • 5 + years of progressive and hands-on compensation design and implementation experience

Who you are

  • Experience collaborating with a diverse team of leadership, business partners, external vendors, and consultants
  • A track record of developing and executing effective compensation programs, tools, metrics, and practices
  • Strong analytical capability and comfortable preparing and presenting compensation proposals
  • Strong project management skills in organizing, planning, and executing small to medium scale projects
  • Experience leading or participating in a job architecture or similar project is highly desired.
  • Expert-level experience utilizing HRIS and compensation management systems and mastery of Microsoft Excel
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or other compensation certification is highly desired.
  • Learning Abilities/Tech Savvy - Resilient and open to learning and capability to apply the learning real time. Understands the use of technology tools to drive efficiency and scale.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels in the organization including senior and executive leaders.
  • Willingness and ability to build strong, productive collaborative relationships within and outside of HR.
  • Confidentiality & Discretion - Treat compensation matters with strict confidentiality and a high degree of discretion.

What you'll do

  • Designs, implements, and executes compensation programs including base pay and internal mobility administration, short term, and long-term incentive programs.
  • Handle the day-to-day analysis and administration needs with respect to the company's compensation plans.
  • Reviews job content and assists with creating job descriptions.
  • Participates in compensation surveys to collect and analyze competitive salary information.
  • Designs and implements dashboards and tools that drive awareness and understanding of compensation programs.
  • Reviews requests for new or revised classifications to determine appropriate salary grade assignment and FLSA status.
  • Assist in policy development and recommendations on the organization's compensation programs.
  • Strive to be industry-leading and progressive in our total rewards programs, regularly monitoring external trends to proactively adjust our compensation strategies to stay competitive in the market and recommend revisions to lead best-in-class rewards.
  • Ensures compliance with regulations and applicable laws.
  • Adhoc projects and additional assignments as needed.

The annual starting salary for this position is $100,000, with a comprehensive benefits package including employer-covered health insurance.
