Comp Range 140K -160K + Bonus
Hybrid Role in Chicago Area out of Alsip, IL
The assistant controller supports the Sr. Director, Global Controllership & Reporting in managing our monthly accounting and financial reporting processes. This position will own the global consolidation of financial results and be the system administrator of our global consolidation tool. This role will frequently interact with our finance teams across the globe, ensuring the accuracy of our financial results.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage consolidation of the Company's results to deliver monthly financial reporting, including management of elimination and top-side entries
- Identify, communicate and resolve discrepancies in accounting records working directly with regional controllers/accounting managers around the world. Identify and implement areas for improvement.
- Oversight of monthly corporate close process for several corporate entities. Own balance sheet accuracy and oversee account reconciliations for these entities.
- This position will supervise a Corporate Accounting Manager and Sr. Global Reporting Analyst
- Prepare internal and external financial statements for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, including a quarterly statement of stockholder's equity and statement of cash flows.
- Analyze financial performance and evaluate cost variances vs budget and business trends
- Review and consolidate quarterly forecasts and annual budgets prepared by various sites across the globe
- Participate in and lead the global balance sheet review process
- Administer global account reconciliations tool and ensure global compliance with account reconciliation procedures
- Assist in implementing and refining internal control processes and policies for the company
- Research technical accounting issues to provide accounting guidance in adherence to US GAAP
- Support the annual audit process by preparing any documentation needed for internal and external review
- Assist with implementation of new global consolidation software, obtaining intimate knowledge of the inner workings of our consolidation tool
- Assist the Corporate Controller with ad hoc projects as necessary

Functional Knowledge
- Technical knowledge of US GAAP and expert level accounting knowledge is required
- Experience with consolidations is required, including knowledge of consolidating financial statements and elimination entries
- Experience in public accounting or working in finance/accounting department required
- Prior experience with consolidation software (BPC, Oracle HFM/Fusion Cloud, OneStream, etc) strongly preferred
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in accounting or related field from a four-year college or university.
Preferred Education:
- Accounting or finance degree or degree in a related field
Minimum Experience:
- 5 + years' managerial experience
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with financial statement consolidations required
- Public Accounting experience with a top 10 firm preferred
- Experience with manufacturing companies a plus
Required Licenses/Certifications: CPA strongly preferred but not required. MBA a plus.
