Hardware Systems Architect, Pixel

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of design experience in system-on-a-chip (SoC), memories, power supply, camera, sensors, and analog design, or 3 years of experience with an advanced degree.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in shipping multiple consumer electronics products, in a Lead or Principal Hardware Systems Architect role.
  • Experience working in one of the mobile product categories (i.e., smartphone, watch, laptop, or tablet).
  • Experience in using Allegro for schematic generation and PCB layouts.
  • Knowledge of RTOS, Linux, Chrome OS, Android embedded environments, microprocessor, and micro-controller design.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to comfortably present to the highest levels of leadership.

About the job

As a Hardware Systems Architect, you will be laying the groundwork for our future products. You will work closely with Product Management, Product Design Architecture, Industrial Design, and the executive leadership team on new product definitions. You will be responsible for efficiently integrating electrical systems throughout the device to enable target use cases and hit other product metrics such as thickness, weight, or cost. You have the technical experience to discuss engineering tradeoffs across multiple disciplines including antennas, cameras, sensors, displays, and batteries. You will partner with our global Product Engineering teams as they bring these future products to market, offering ongoing support and bringing lessons learned back into the definition process of next-generation devices.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $142,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, debug, and characterize Electrical Engineeringsystems for use in future product architectures. Design prototype devices in conjunction with Product Design Architecture to validate new form factors, features, or other concepts.
  • Partner closely with Product Design Architecture on optimizing the integration of electrical systems to benefit one or more key metrics like size, performance, or cost.
  • Plan and lead validation of your designs. Lead complete functional verification, signal characterization, power modeling/test, and system coexistence testing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Silicon Engineering, Layout Engineering, Thermal Engineering, and Signal Integrity.
  • Advocate for new technology and component development that offer clear benefits to future product layouts.
