Multi-Asset Solutions
Multi Asset Solutions (MAS) is a multi-asset class investing group that sits within the Asset & Wealth Management business at Goldman Sachs. MAS is responsible for managing customized multi-asset class portfolios and funds in a discretionary manner for institutional clients. Our clients include US and international corporate and public pension plans, insurance balance sheets, endowments, foundations, healthcare institutions, and sovereign wealth funds. The team is comprised of professionals with deep and varied investment backgrounds who specialize in designing and implementing customized multi-asset class portfolios. The team applies rigorous techniques to strategic and dynamic asset allocation, asset-liability analysis, portfolio design and implementation, risk management, and portfolio reporting and analytics. The team has been managing customized multi-asset class mandates since 1995 as a committed partner to large institutions globally.
Summary of Role:
The successful candidate would become a member of our investment team based in New York responsible for strategic asset allocation design, dynamic asset allocation, and portfolio management of a portfolio consisting of public and private assets. This role is critical to the continued success of our multi-asset platform and will coordinate closely with MAS' research and client teams as well as product teams across the Asset & Wealth Management division. This role is highly analytical and detail-oriented.
Core Responsibilities:
- Co-manage multi-asset portfolios whose strategic asset allocation encompasses public and private asset classes (with a special focus on private credit), including discretion over the deployment of capital, tactical views, rebalancing, liquidity management and equitization
- Develop and implement framework for identifying market opportunities within private asset subsectors, leading to relative value decisions between public and private asset allocation
- Track the secondary market to identify potential exit opportunities for applicable clients
- Provide portfolio construction advice to internal and external stakeholders relative to their bespoke set of private asset objectives and constraints
- Lead research projects on bespoke private asset topics / asset classes for client specific situations
- Partner with the MAS Research team to develop proprietary models for managing public/private portfolios including enhancing our framework for long-term commitment and pacing analysis as well as the ability to opportunistically speed up / slow down the deployment timeline
- Help drive new product development to develop and enhance structures to make investing in privates easier for retail and institutional clients (i.e. semi-liquid privates, open-ended fund structures, multi-sector credit, income duration hedged funds, etc.)
- Identify, build and track indicators that allows MAS to monitor private market activity and determine attractive opportunities
- Develop MAS intellectual property on managing portfolios across private and public portfolios
- Partner with the Portfolio Construction team to think about how types of private investments complement each other
- Partner with Research, under CIO supervision, to write quarterly publication linking private markets to public markets
Qualifications:
- ~10 years of experience investing in private assets with a demonstrated track record and notable IRR. Experience can include managing a dedicated private assets book, private portfolios or a fund-of-fund type of business in the context of multi-asset portfolio
- Experience investing in private loans and/or securitized structures across the capital structure
- Experience working with credit facilities
- Experience in designing commitment schedules
- Experience in liquidity and J-curve management
- Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- A self-starter able to work independently and thrive in a team environment
- Risk management and control orientation
- Excellent project management skills
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Ability to communicate investment strategies and rationales to audiences of varying levels of sophistication
Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $125000-$290000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
