This role resides in the Retirement Solutions business within the Client Solutions Group of Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM). The Retirement Solutions Group (RSG) is responsible for engaging with financial advisors & other key distribution contacts with the goal of developing ongoing commercial relationships for Defined Contribution Investment Only (DCIO) and Retirement-related investment solutions offered by the firm.

YOUR IMPACT

We are seeking a Regional Director (External Wholesaler) to join our Retirement Solutions Group (RSG) covering a focused list of Retirement advisors in the Southwest (~6 States across the Southwest & South Central states). Our ideal candidate has successful financial sales experience and strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex products and views in a concise manner. This role will also require significant collaboration with Internal Partners to accelerate sales of GSAM capabilities, with a specific focus on investments (including but not limited to Mutual Funds and CITs) as well as our bundled recordkeeping solution. Candidate must live or be willing to relocate to the Southwest Territory.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL

In this external sales role, the Regional Director is responsible for calling on a focused list of firms and retirement-focused financial advisors in the territory. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Establish, maintain and grow relationships with retirement-focused advisors to drive sales.
  • Responsible for marketing products including Mutual Funds, CITs and our bundled recordkeeping solution.
  • Role requires the ability to position Goldman Sachs' investment philosophy, process, product differentiation and competitive analyses in group presentations, public seminars and one-on-one presentations.
  • Develop a complete understanding of our value proposition which includes market insights, product knowledge, portfolio construction, and retirement related investment solutions.
  • Execute consistent follow up with advisors to advance the sales process and deepen advisor relationships.
  • Maintain a full calendar of client engagement/activity.
  • Ability to work with multiple internal teams and partners to help drive sales effort.
  • Develop and maintain territory business plan to meet sales goals.
  • Leverage internal sales partner to scale and track business to maximize impact.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 10+ years of financial services sales experience preferred
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Minimum of (5-10) years of financial services sales experience with a proven track record and relationships in the DCIO market or record-keeping market
  • Strong knowledge of the advisor-sold (or intermediary-driven) retirement market including trading platforms, bundled providers and regulatory issues
  • Ability to manage administrative aspects of job effectively (call reports, CRM, expense reports, etc.)
  • (3-4) days of travel per week
  • Series 7 and 63 required
  • Existing relationships in the territory, with focused client base preferred
  • Compliance-oriented
  • Team player
  • Must live or be willing to relocate to territory
