The Testing Facility Operations Leader is responsible for providing direction and guidance to the hourly testing mechanics while also balancing and testing power generator rotating equipment at the GE Richmond Service Center. In this role you will work to drive efficiency, productivity, and utilization of resources using lean and quality methods.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • As the Testing Facility Operations Lead, you will coordinate and provide technical, quality, and production leadership to assigned teams to meet safety, quality, schedule, and cost goals.
  • You will help to determine needs and plan for the necessary equipment, personnel, and other assets to be in place. You will define what testing needs to be completed for the project and prepare the required documents and procedures.
  • Provide ongoing support in scheduling resources, technical leadership, and facilitating the workflow to meet customer requirements
  • Assist Cell Leader with decision making in areas of process improvement and/or production to make appropriate resource decisions (manpower, machines, methods) to facilitate the workflow through the repairs process
  • Direct the activities of the hourly team to meet identified goals
  • Solve problems, set direction, eliminate waste in processes, own visual management
  • Perform administrative duties to support the business (including but not limited to time sheet correction and approval, and labor vouchering)
  • Coordinate all first line activities to assure the meeting of safety procedures, production schedules, customer satisfaction, cost goals, and maintenance of the highest standards of safety and quality
  • Practice sound human relations and communications skills to motivate team members
  • Review production orders and implement schedules
  • Analyze and diagnose machine and tooling problems, taking corrective actions to minimize downtime and interruption of schedules
  • Coach and motivate team in safety, quality, individual performance and development, and productivity improvements
  • Perform balancing and testing of rotating equipment from power generation sites.
  • Operate testing equipment (multi-meters, oscilloscopes, vibration monitoring equipment, etc.)
  • Produce Final Reports from testing data.
  • Compile, assimilate, and analyze data from various sources and make recommendations.
  • Monitor and advise on test progress; comply with safety, quality, and schedule requirements.
  • Review, modify, and create production & engineering standards for vibration and balance testing - including creation and review of testing plans and documentation
  • Review process & production instructions for accuracy.
  • Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university / college with 2 years experience in engineering and/or testing environment OR an Associates Degree with 4 years of experience in an experience in engineering and/or testing environment

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work within the USA without sponsorship now or in the future
  • 100% onsite at the Richmond, VA Repair Center
  • Must be willing to work multiple shifts, weekends, and holidays when needed

Desired Characteristics:

  • Ability to maintain rigorous adherence to safety standards and processes
  • Previous experience in rotating power generation equipment and power plants
  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Supervisory / leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
  • Ability to document, plan, and execute testing programs
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt, be flexible, and maintain enthusiasm during periods of change to schedule and testing parameters
  • Ability to read, modify, and create technical drawings
  • Lean manufacturing experience
  • Ability to focus on multiple projects and priorities at one time, manage time effectively, and allocate resources efficiently.
  • Ability to influence and lead project team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literate and competent in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Ability to work effectively and cohesively at multiple levels within the organization
  • Experience managing complex technical projects
  • Customer oriented - both internally and externally

Pay Transparency

For U.S. based candidates only, for purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, the base pay range for this position is $90,400.00 - 120,000.00. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 10% performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. This posting is expected to close on July 5, 2025, or thereafter.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
