Job Description
As Lead Electrical Engineer, you will become a member of cross-functional team to deliver world-class rotating electrical machine designs for industrial power generation, power stability, marine propulsion. Working in close conjunction with CAD, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers you will ensure our machines are of the highest standard and meet customer and project requirements.

In this role you will focus on:
- Electromagnetic design, sizing of the machine & thermal design.
- Understanding contractual requirements and provide technical solution in case of a conflict in a timely manner with quality.
- Specification, design and engineering of large electrical machines.
- Leading to carry out detailed analytical / finite element analysis of machines and their performance.
- Leading to design models and/or prototype tests for the machines to improve noise and vibration performance.
- Investigating new materials and methods to improve the competitiveness of the machines.
- Working closely with customers and other third parties to provide the solutions they require.
- Closely collaborating with Customers, Project Management, Sourcing & Procurement, Manufacturing & Quality teams.
- Creation and submission of required design data to document the design progress.
Required qualifications:
- A relevant academic degree in Electrical Engineering focusing on electrical machine design with significant experience in a rotating electrical machines engineering environment.
- Solid knowledge of 3D and/or 2D finite element analyses for electromagnetic designs.
- Expertise in ANSYS/Workbench with experience of electromagnetic analyses.
- Firm understanding of the principles of rotating electrical machines, their engineering challenges and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with engineering design processes.
- Familiarity with one or more a variety of Industry Standards, i.e. BS EN, IEC 60034, IEEE 115, etc.
Non-essential qualifications:
- Sole British citizenship and possession of or eligibility to obtain SC (Security Check) national security clearance.
- Knowledge/experience of Teamcenter, SAP or equivalent PLM software.
This role involves work for customers who manage critical infrastructure; based on customer requirements it will be necessary to carry out background checks and suitability assessments (UK BPSS clearance OR UK SC clearance) as part of the hiring process.
