Job Description Summary

The Wind Global Permit to Work Program Lead is responsible for supporting EHS specifically in the areas of permit to work and control of work program deliverables. The role will focus on the integrity and effectiveness of the GE Vernova Wind Life Saving Rule programs and processes, policies, and procedures including alignment with the business work management and authorization process. Additionally, the role will collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to identify the core tools and methodologies to manage hazards at the point of work to GE Vernova Wind standards. The role will report to the Wind Global Operations and Center of Excellence EHS Leader and will be responsible for driving excellence across the organization regarding developing consistent and standard permit to work programs and expectations.

This position will also be partnering cross functionally, with both internal and external stakeholders, to ensure all aspects of permit to work programs are both implemented and actively utilized to drive sustainable improvement both in the Wind organization and GE Vernova. This includes but is not limited to integrating the GE Vernova Work Authorization technical standards into the One Wind organization, supporting the structure and application of permit to work tools and systems, interface with other work authorization platforms within the Wind business, and provide training and coaching to personnel authorized to deliver permit to work roles and responsibilities including engagement with the Wind contractor workforce. Finally, this role will also provide input and support the wider Wind EHS team as we work to build one successful GE Vernova team.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead the Wind Permit to Work program, with a priority focus on identifying and managing hazards associated with both the task and work environment for frontline personnel in alignment with the GE Vernova Life Saving Rule deliverables.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring for personnel delivering permit to work roles and responsibilities within One Wind.
  • Provide support for Permit to Work training programs with Wind Learning Team.
  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders on the integration of the Permit to Work program into the overall One Wind work management and authorization workflow structure.
  • Evaluate and operationalize digital tools and solutions for both a distributed workforce and fixed facility locations to effectively deliver permit to work expectations.
  • Work with regional teams to support permit to work program activities.
  • Conduct field audits and assessments to verify effectiveness of Permit to Work requirements.
  • Support GE Vernova EHS business operation system (Framework).
  • Support the key deliverables and KPIs for the business as it relates to health and safety strategy and effectiveness of the Permit to Work program.
  • Proactively partner and develop positive working relationships with cross-functional personnel.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or technical equivalent from an accredited college or university, or equivalent qualification and 5 years of prior experience with Control of Work / Permit to Work programs.
  • OR High School Diploma or GED and minimum of 8 years of prior experience with Control of Work / Permit to Work programs.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
  • Remote and/or located in Schenectady, NY or Greenville, SC

Desired Characteristics

  • Certified Health and Safety professional or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • Prior experience in Wind industry and/or energy industry fields
  • Significant experience and demonstrated achievements with safety programs, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Medical fitness and ability to work at height per local and global standards
  • Knowledge of EHS management systems
  • Fluent English with strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Experience working in or across different GE Vernova businesses
  • Able to coach and support key influencers to drive EHS compliance and the reduction of risk through team engagement and help develop an organizational culture that prioritizes EHS.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple issues with competing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, motivate and drive change and interact cross-functionally
  • Confidently able to facilitate and deliver training and or presentations to a diverse audience
  • Ability to influence and motivate diverse teams to achieve a unified goal
  • Field experience in a project / services environment, practical experience in risk management
  • High energy, self-starter
  • Related EHS expertise outside of primary responsibility, for example, Occupational Safety or Sustainability
  • Trained to Global Wind Organization (GWO) basic safety standard
  • Additional language skills

The base pay range for this position is $113,100.00 - $188,500.00 USD Annual USD Annual USD Annual USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for variable incentive compensation of 15%. This posting is expected to close no earlier than June 20, 2025.
*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
