Mechanical Steam Cycle Systems engineering is a cross-functional team that executes not only system level design but also procurement activities. Our team considers both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the user's needs. We utilize and execute a robust process of design, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, review of vendor documentation, and control of system or component design requirements.
Job Description
Responsible for mechanical engineering activities that support:
- Procurement/Design/Fabrication of the Steam Cycle Components for the BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor (SMR)

Primary design focus areas for our Mechanical System team include:
- Boiling Water Reactor Mechanical Systems such as Steam Turbine, Steam Turbine Auxiliary Systems, Turbine Bypass Valves, Main Condenser, Steam Jet Air Ejectors, Feedwater Heaters, and the Moisture Separator Reheater.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update contractual division of responsibility for procurement/technical design of the Mechanical Steam Cycle Systems between GEH and other partners/suppliers.
- Coordinate and track updates to component specifications, design activities and review supplier deliverables for long lead components.
- Conducts component and product integration of all activities that span between the multiple components and products focused with how to integrate for maximum performance and operability.
- Manages product and systems requirements, specifications, and flow down.
- Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing.
- Responsible for defining product requirements for the module / component / subcontractors and partners teams.
- Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy. May include support roles with specialized technical field of knowledge; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills.
- Facilitate and oversee the export control processes for the Polish engineering team, ensuring compliance with international regulations and standards.
- Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
- May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
- A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and a strong communication skillset that can utilize different types of communication based on the situation. For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Explains technical information to others.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or other relevant Engineering degree from an accredited university or college.
- Proven significant experience in a mechanical engineering role.
- Proven experience of project engineering or management.

- Past experience with procurement of components
- Knowledge of working within a regulated environment.
- Knowledge of quality standards and systems (e.g., NQA-1 and ISO 9001).
- Understanding of international export control regulations and standards
- Experience and/or interest in nuclear power industry.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and cope under pressure.
