Role summary/purpose

GE Renewable - Grid Integration product line is globally recognized for designing, manufacturing, and delivering customized High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) solutions for utilities worldwide. With over 130 years of pioneering experience, GE offers two HVDC technologies, Line Commutated Converters (LCC) and Voltage Source Converters (VSC), to support a broad range of applications and deployable in different schemes including overhead line (point to point), back-to-back, submarine/land cable and offshore.
Every HVDC solution is tailored and designed based on a project-by-project assessment of the customers' individual requirements, whether it's for connecting offshore wind generation, long distance power transmission, or energy trading between independent networks.

Within this cross-centers and multicultural organization, the Plant ENgineering Lead manages directly plant engineering team (up to 15 people) at his center level in addition of performing TenneT portfolio project plant team leader's tasks depending on the needs.

Essential responsibilities

  • Manage & develop local teams at local centers
  • Ensure proper implementation of plant engineering process at center level
  • Promote local opportunities (e.g. knowledge sharing with other disciplines, with ACS local centers, close collaboration with local customers, local universities, local industry bodies... when relevant)
  • Support Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Define and/or control plant engineering planning for the project portfolio
  • Release plant engineering deliverables as per project planning & cost without non-conformity
  • Interface with other disciplines
  • Lead change control impacting plant engineering deliverables & activities

Qualifications and skills

  • A bachelor's degree in electrical/mechanical engineering or related discipline
  • Strong, significant experience in engineering management for EPC project, ideally in primary design for substation projects
  • Accurate knowledge of local environment & behaviors
  • Strong knowledge on High Voltage substation international standards & guidelines (IEC, CIGRE...) and related equipment
  • Strong knowledge on contract and project management, Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC), or Engineering equipment package (EEP) type
  • Successful team management
  • Proficient with Autodesk CAD tools Revit & Navisworks
  • Good understanding of onshore civil engineering and offshore platform design and requirements
  • Leadership, analytical mind, rigorous and commitment,
  • Professional English spoken and written
