Job Description Summary

GE Vernova Grid Software develops critical software for control rooms of electrical grid operators. Those operators use GIS, ADMS, AEMS, AMMS, Analytics and DERMS software to ensure the real-time and look-ahead operation of both electricity transmission and distribution grids, as well as wholesale electricity markets. 40% of Transmission & 30% of Distribution utilities use GE software to transport and distribute electrical power in a safe, reliable manner and with the right quality of service to their end customers.

The Advanced Technology Organization (ATO) is focused on innovation and expert services for GE Vernova Grid Software product suite. The team pilots and enhances current offerings, develops new commercially viable features or solutions to solve industry and customer problems using the GridOS platform. The team utilizes electrical engineering physics and AI/ML techniques.

The ATO Grid AI/ML Lead will be responsible to establish and lead the Grid AI/ML team in U.S.A. with a combination of Power System (Grid Operations) and AI/ML skills, working with internal and external stakeholders to identify innovative ideas, contribute to defining technical solutions and own the delivery of Proof of Concepts (PoC) compatible with GridOS, and aligned with our overall product strategy.

The role will work externally with industry, academia, and government agencies and internally with product and research teams to identify opportunities to innovate and coordinate the implementation. The role will also represent GE Vernova thought leadership through technical paper publications, presentations, and patent filings.

The role will also contribute to setting the ATO AI/ML direction globally and the ATO staffing in U.S.A. The role will identify and respond to professional growth needs for all team members and ensure they have the proper skills and training to execute deliverables. The role will also foster a work culture at all levels that is positive, collaborative, respectful, innovative, dynamic, with high integrity, and capable of driving positive change over sustained periods of time.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate and prioritize AI/ML use-cases with internal teams and customers.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Services to develop and deploy AI/ML applications.
  • Build the development environment to use the AI/ML technology.
  • Define the framework to collect, structure and use of data for AI/ML models.
  • Implement and maintain data pipelines for AI/ML models.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of AI/ML models.
  • Provide technical team management (goals, mentoring).

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's/PhD Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), or Electrical Engineering (Power Systems).
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), including large language models (LLMs, physics-integrated ML, time-series analysis, NLP, etc).
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience with working with customers and internal stakeholders (Product Management, Commercial, Engineering and Services).
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in people management.
  • Experience in Python, C#, C/C++, Java, R Programming, Kafka, etc.
  • Expertise in MLOps using cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, etc.).
  • Expertise of GraphDB, SQL/NoSQL, MS Access, databases.
  • Willingness to work out of our office in Bothell, WA.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of power systems or grid operations and in power system data analysis.
  • Experience and ability to write professional and technical papers, reports, and patent disclosures.
  • Experience and ability to write technical proposals for U.S. government agencies.
  • Experience and ability to make formal and informal presentations (technical and non-technical).
  • Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with Product Management, Finance and Commercial Operations.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Additional Information

The salary range for this position is $145,3600USD - $218,000USD. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus. Available benefits include be Health, Medical, 401K, and Paid Leave.
