Work Arrangement:
Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Technical Center in Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
We are seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to lead the hardware development of microcontrollers (MCU) in electronic component designs. This hardware engineer position will be dependent on building strong partnerships with both internal team members responsible for electronic control unit (ECU) design, as well as semiconductor partner(s). The focus could be on a variety of MCU aspects- analyzing performance, architecture/ECU integration/optimization, and issue resolution.

Responsibilities
- Build partnerships and collaborate with functional teams across hardware engineering, software engineering, product management, purchasing, and suppliers to implement semiconductor strategic objectives.
- Develop requirements and data analysis for MCU performance/optimization.
- Develop a clear benchmarking strategy, covering all aspects of development.
- Troubleshoot hardware issues, perform root cause analysis, and develop solutions.
- Work with system engineers, software engineers, and hardware engineers to define and optimize MCU domain solutions.
- Establish domain expertise for semiconductors and electronic control unit product lines within scope of responsibility.
- Support Staff Hardware Engineer with technology roadmaps in close collaboration with industry leaders, benchmarking, and performance optimization analysis.
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- BS in Electrical Engineering / Electronics / Computer Science or related
- 5+ total years of microcontroller experience at a semiconductor supplier, OR at a Tier 1 ECU supplier
- 2+ years of engineering experience in electronic hardware design and development
- Working knowledge of automotive electronic hardware and automotive software architecture
- Hands-on experience with MCU evaluation boards & bring up
- Experience with lab equipment, such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and multimeters.
- Experience with software development tools (i.e. IDE, compilers) and software debugging tools (i.e. Lauterbach, CAN Analyzer)
- Exceptional collaboration and teamwork skills; demonstrated ability for working across functional and organizational boundaries
- Exceptional demonstrated experience leading projects to completion
- Strong problem-solving skills and proven ability to learn quickly
