Description
Hybrid: Reporting to a specific location where work needs to be performed / collaboration should happen (regardless this location is within a hub) and without regard to where a candidate lives (some employees may end up hybrid who live more than 50 miles away but where business needs dictate them to be onsite at a specific location three days per week).
- This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to GM Global Warren Technical Center three times per week, at minimum.

The Role

compute and autonomous capabilities. Our Semiconductor Engineering team is a dynamic, high-energy, and innovative group focused on design and
commercialization of leading-edge silicon enabling the future of GM's
architecture platform.
We are seeking a Design Release Engineer (DRE) to lead sourcing, design release, change manage, specification and production readiness activities for a specific line of semiconductors. The DRE will be depended on to build strong partnerships with internal team members responsible for commercial negotiations, electronic control unit (ECU) design as well as semiconductor partner(s). This role is on the serializer and de-serializer (SerDes) team due to the growing need for greater system engineering ownership.

Responsibilities
- Build partnerships and work closely with functional peers across engineering, purchasing, and suppliers to implement semiconductor strategic objectives
- Develop eSOR (Statement of Requirements) and release semiconductors to facilitate on-time sourcing and integration with ECUs in accordance with Global Vehicle Development Process and program timing requirements
- Run Product Development Team (PDT) consisting of all internal and external partners ensuring semiconductors are designed, produced and production ready
- Build strong semiconductor fabrication partner relationships ensuring clear understanding of manufacturing process, supply chain business arrangements
- Project manage ongoing process/product design changes related to semiconductors within scope of responsibility and present progress to leadership
Additional Description
Qualifications - Required
- BS in Electrical Engineering / Electronics / Computer Science
- 4+ total years of engineering experience as a DRE, OR at a semiconductor supplier, OR at Tier 1 ECU supplier
- 2+ years of engineering experience in electronic hardware design and development
- Working knowledge of automotive electronic hardware and automotive software architecture
- Exceptional collaboration and teamwork skills; demonstrated ability for working across functional and organizational boundaries
- Exceptional demonstrated experience leading projects to completion
- Strong problem-solving skills and proven ability to learn quickly
Qualifications - Preferred
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Industry knowledge with the design and application of different semiconductors
- Experience with lab equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and multimeters
